Technologies that you wish were never abandoned

kek Imagine being such a piss head that you need to get one of these installed. Probably quite expensive back then too, so must have been a fairly well-off alcoholic.
>>
>>106463406

Everyone was a pisshead back then brother
>>
wish CRTs were still being made. what make arcades so popular was the unmistakeable look of a big CRT. since they switched to LCDs, arcades died.
>>
>>106463406
Given the asymmetry of this, it looks like it was made by someone fucking around with what would otherwise be waste. I doubt it was that expensive, especially if it came from the shop of the person who owned the home.
>>
>>106463463
Wasn't most water unclean so the only thing that was safe to drink was alcoholic drinks?
>>
>>106463495
I'm not so sure modern displays killed the arcade. What killed the arcade was having a pocket device with you at all times that can play games anywhere you go and not having to insert quarters to do so.
>>
>>106463514
Also home consoles in general and gaming PCs getting better (no need to go to the arcade to play $GAME when you have $GAME at home)
>>
You hold the key near the tip of your index finger. Then you search for the keyhole with the tip of your finger. Then you insert the key when you find it.

Speaking of, I miss games fitting on a single (or even a few) disks THAT I OWN, and not needing to download anything to run said game.

I'd create a crt again in a nanosecond, the problem is that we don't have the technology to do that anymore. We used to, but we destroyed that technology, and it's a painful process to build back again. In addition, we accidentally recorded over the tapes that had the information on them.
>>
>>106463513
Do you really, truly, believe that nobody knew how to find clean water, and that everyone was shitfaced all day everyday?
>>
>>106463579
Last time I tried to buy some through Telegram I'm 95% positive the cops set me up. I ran like a bitch and decided not to buy weed anymore.

let's settle this once and for all /g/, is medievals drinking beer instead of water a myth or is the idea that it's a myth itself a myth? Or is that a myth?
>>
>>106463555
why do asians think this scribble thing is hot? what's the backstory
>>
>>106463631
it was the case in victorian era of england, especially in big cities like london and that's it. people in rural areas had good water, just cook it.
>>
>>106463631
That idea is mostly untrue, most people had access to clean water but it did happen in some limited capacity. People in the past were mostly just alcoholics.

I can see that. Would you want to drink the water from the Thames?

At the same time, I think you're right that water quality elsewhere was probably better where as today it's probably much worse thanks to sewage discharges.

this one of those things that kind of seem like they might be true but its really not. we call this phenomenon: reddit bullshit.
>>
>>106463752
I think that's his point and probably where the myth originates from (the people making the alcohol had access to clean water in large quantities)
>>
>>106463631
typically the beer or wine was watered down for everyday consumption. wellwater was fine unless there were jews nearby.

TL;DR Womb Tattoo is a trope that shows up a lot in hentai involving magic, demons and other such things - it often represents a character's sexual energy, or it may be the mark of a sex-related curse, or it may be a visual indication that a character is a succubus etc etc. In general, it's usually sex magic related

lmao alcohol lobbyists are mad
>>
>>106463631
The answer is it depends. If you have access to clean water, you drink water because it's free.
If you for any reason don't have that, booze is usually safe to drink, and can sometimes be stored for a time without going bad.
Note that even when not watered down, medieval drinks were much weaker than today - I vaguely recall someone brewing beer using a ~1500s recipe and it turned out to maybe 1-2% compared to modern 4%+, probably a similar story with wine

Yeah but that's beer mixed with lemon soda.

You forgot that we talk about XIV century. blacksmithing was still relatively primitive industry and with exception of shit literally made for noblefucks, was not really super concerned with aesthetics.
I don't think that person commissioning this kind of addition for their lock was a king, but they clearly were not some piss-poor farmer. Bonus points that there is an attempt of decoration in form of simple leaf patterns on both ends instead of simple flattened pieces.

Actually fuck, I just checked it - Since VI century Regensburg was family of Agilofilfings was living, literal rulers of Bavaria and since early XIII century, it was capital of Bavaria. It also had large church and clergy and bunch of patricians fighting over who can build the tallest tower in the city.

>this

>>
>>106463580
You're retarded dramafag.
Creating CRTs is not really lost technology - we understand exactly how they were made and have technology available to do it. Issue is that it's fucking expensive to construct a CRT display unless you go full industrial mode and start selling literal millions of them. It also does not help that a lot of components used in CRTs nowadays are literally illegal so you would need to figure out some kind of replacements or lol deals with government but good fucking luck.

CRTs are not some insane, lost technology. It just stopped being profitable to produce and sell them the moment when much cheaper alternatives appeared.
>>
>>106464097
>technology - scientific knowledge used in practical ways, particularly in industry, or as the machinery and equipment designed using that knowledge
It's accurate to say the technology is lost even if the science is understood.

Alcohol really is fucking fantastic.

retarded zoomer you can literally still buy CRTs. you're just too poor for them because the only surviving markets are smashfags(also poorfags) and industrial environments

>>106464097
>literally illegal
like what nigger? and dont say leaded glass because leaded glass was not used in CRTs. they use borosilicate glass.

>>106463463
>>106463513
>>106463631
it's a half truth. everyone was constantly drinking beer/wine, but it was also much weaker than it is today. the average beer was like 2% and wine was like 5%.

>>106463804
>watered down
you may be thinking of grog, which was made with spirits and citrus juice. it was basically a way to preserve fruit juices for long voyages and also wasn't very high in alcohol content. the stories of sailors constantly getting piss drunk or being rewarded with booze usually were the sailors drinking the spirits directly (the ships would also carry spirits "raw" to either make more grog once they get to port and can buy more fruit, at least in theory. in reality a lot of it got drunk straight)

>>106463921
>>106463902
russia has something like this called kvass. it's made by fermenting old rye bread in water and is usually 0.5% to 2% and is drunk the same way as back then -- out of a giant fucking bottle that you swill all day just to keep hydrated. only the most dire alcoholics (and children) use it to get party drunk. it's sold in most shops and the <1% stuff can be purchased by children sorta like "wine coolers" in the west

>>106463632
it's a huge meme now for unclear reasons but basically it's the asian version of the BLACKED spade tattoo. it denotes that the character is officially a massive fucking hoe built for nutting inside and usually the center of the tattoo will denote exactly by what (usually a demonic/angelic motif, but sometimes something like a paw or horseshoe or even the occasional playing card spade depending on the context and themes of the doujin)

rebuildable vape devices. I dont like having to buy pods evne if they are refillable. just let me buy wire and wind that shit around some bamboo fabric myself
