Who the fuck uses AM5? it's been a shit show since the beginning. It obviously is a 'beta' gen leading up to AM6 which will be the real upgrade from AM4, which AMD keeps supporting because it's their real current gen.
If you bought an AM5 and get problems then you deserve it for paying to beta test.

For some reason the single thread performance on non X3D chips are better, which is what I look at when buying a new cpu, as well as TDP

>>
>>106468042
I wouldn't say they are scams, but they are overrated. They do have benefits in selected user cases, but is it worth the headache and premium for that benefit is another matter.
Most of X3D-types are just neurotic min-max types. They think that they are missing out.
>>
>>106471140
Intel's normal desktop platforms are marginally better at PCIe lane allocation. IF you have a use case for tons of I/O connectivity. You have no choice but go the workstation/server route.

I can use all the PCIe slots and M.2 slot on my X870 board (3 PCIe slots and 4 M.2 slots), don't have to give up an entire M.2 slot, but half of it, so going from x4 to x2.

10GbE or USB 10G? It has single 5GbE and three 10G USB ports, two USB 40G ports.
Using a specific (not the same one as the PCIe slot at least) M.2 slot will cut one USB 40G in half (x2 instead of x4) though or vice versa.

10GbE over twisted pair is literally just as old.
That's the weird thing.
Took a little over 10 years from the first gigabit chipsets on the market for it to be standard on anything but the bottom end of equipment.
It's been a little over 15 years since the first 10GbE base-t NICs and it's still limited to high-end devices.
They came up with 2.5Gb and 5Gb later over issues with ancient cat5e cabling but as far as MB vendors are concerned it's just a way to segment. 10Gb is pretty much endgame for consumer networking.
