the rtx 3090 is now 5 years old
i bought one from a failed crypto farmer 3 years ago for 600 bucks, can't believe the value i'm still getting out of it
>>106467085damn I guess sotime really flies
>>106467085The 24GB VRAM continues to pay off. I think it'll be a while before any game uses that much.
>>106467124It will probably be limited by performance before any game uses that much. The 24GB VRAM and good value used market price make it a good entry level AI card though.
aged like fine wine
I have a 3090 MSI for nearly 5 years now. Finally started to give me sluggish FPS in some games. what should i replace it with? a 5070ti? a 5080?
I got a prebuilt with a 3080 back in 2020 when GPUs were impossible to get. Wish I had gotten the 3090, at the time it seemed like stupid overkill but I had no idea I was destined to become a full-time slopper. AAA games these days are dogshit and not worth the power expenditure to run them at high settings. But for genning 10 GB vram isn't bad. I can do various things while waiting for gens. It helps pass the time. When I upgrade it will definitely be more than 24GB/cope
>>106467248you should replace the UE5 goyslop "games" you are playing that run like shit on 5090s anyway
>>106467248What games and which settings do you play at?
3090 aged like shit. it runs hot as hell. transient spikes like a mofo. slower than 6900xt/6950xt. its only saving grace is 24gb of vram but it has no use unless you do 30b models.
>>106467749>it runs hot as hell. What, so every 90 series?
>>1064677564090 and 5090 is when they learned to cool the vram properly. 3090 and before all suffer from vram failure sooner or later because they pretty much run 100c.
>>106467085"4090 5090,..." I don't like these names. They don't have same impact as 3090 (which is still the goat after all these years). After the 30 series, they should've rebranded.
>>106467749>what is powerlimit
>>106467773Learn to service your own shit? Replaced my thermal pads and the VRAM temps hover below 95C.
>>106467756Nah, my 4090 runs at like 65C if it's going full blast at 450W and if it's not quite fully utilized it doesn't even hit 65C. I think those are very reasonable temps. I had a 3080 Ti in my main desktop before this card and I could hardly keep that thing under 75C without the fans going crazy, despite the lower power consumption. The cooler on the 4090 is in a new league entirely, it's very good without being insanely loud.
>>106468164Don't worry, they'll hit 6090 in a year or 2.
>>106467085have 3090Ti, I purchased a period correct maxxed out system. The sound out is a bit quiet I think,.Overall good card and Nvida forgot to turn of a few options
>>106467085yeah yeah nvidia finewine yeah yeah great gpu yeah yeah never obsolete yeah yeah we know
