I want a laptop with both
>extremely low TDP and very, very long battery life
>2.5" SATA bay and socketed RAM
As far as I'm aware no Intel N100 based stuff has any of the latter unless maybe it's some run of the mill AliExpress chinesium (90% chance of crappy battery anyway). Can be dogshit or good, I don't care, the goal is maximum power savings.

The X270 is my best bet, isn't it?

You can just manually set power limits, even via windows without using a tool.

Yeah, top 2 are super easy to come by. Latter 2, not so much. I bought a 14" screen N100 chinkbook for $200 (Chuwi GemiBook Pro) slapped Debian LXQT on it, dimmed the screen and it gets 15 hour battery life.

You can probably get crazier battery life with a smaller screen. Some of the ones I saw were saying 18-20 hours of battery life. What's your ideal battery life?

20 hours. For merely office and thin client operations. With modern technology they probably have the power to make something heavily embedded with the power of a first Gen i7 and a week long battery life, but actual innovation and progress be damned.

I'll be stuck with buying an X270 as it is clearly the patrician choice if you're not going to cuck to a M3 MacBook Air, I guess. You can install both batteries in both slots and keep a 2.5" drive which I find alright.
