I have two MSI Raider A18 HX A9WIG-082USBoth 5080 and 9955HX3DWhile playing games, GPU Temp is around 60-70CBut CPU goes up to 98 C...How the heck should I fix this anyhow? How do you decrees CPU temp?
>>106475849Put a bag of ice under it.
buy a mac
>>106475849Pour cold water on it, it's probably thirsty. Or look for a fan pad that has a vacuum chamber. Razer has a very nice one, but it's kind of pricey for a laptop fan. I have one and notice a huge difference in mine.
>>106475849flawed design chuck it in the trash
>>106475849>>106475894>>106475919just get a gaming desktop
>>106475849>How the heck should I fix this anyhow? How do you decrees CPU temp?Lock the FPS to either 60, or half your screen refresh rate
>>106475849Elevate the laptop to increase cooler air flow, and then purchase a laptop cooling pad.
>>106475849I dont understand why people buy anything above 60 series in laptops, you literally get scammed.
do it
not a gaming laptop but I have a "workstation" laptop with an i9 and quadro cardif you let the i9 "coreboost" it pretty much pegs to thermal throttling instantly doing anythingrepasting today. but I've been using it locked at 2.4ghz for weeks
>>106475849>IETS GT600 V2
>>106475849Go to Power Options and change maximum processor state to a lower number, like 75%. Alternately, get an eGPU.
Rest it on dry ice
>>106475849Lock the CPU to the base clock speed instead of letting it boost.
>>106476377I have it, doesn't really help unless your laptop's intake fans are at the very center of the bottom, otherwise this thing is just gonna get your device even more hot, seriously
All these retards and their facebook tier tech advice.Just undervolt your cpu. If you don't know what that means you should buy a console instead.
>>106476377Cooling pad doesn't do what rubber feet + not putting the laptop on a bed already accomplished
>>106477113>>106477187That's an interesting opinion. On my ASUS A16 Advantage Edition, the fans are located at the top left and right sides. With the cooling pad operating at 2000 RPM, my temperatures drop from 105°C max without the cooling pad, even with rubber feet, to 89°C max with the cooling pad. Of course, temps will vary depending on the laptop, but in my case, it was worth the purchase.
>>106475849>Raider A18 HX A9W – Light 'em Up - MSIIronic name, considering the issue. The many industry bastards place the fans, vents below, use block to or something to elevate it.Check the EFI settings to disable boost and whatever it had.
>>106477296Yes, it varies from laptop to laptopMy guess is you just simply got lucky with the way your laptop sucks the air in from below
>>106477296I just think a laptop needing a $100+ crutch to be usable to be an engineering failure. If you can't cool it, don't sell it, asshole.
>>106477381To add, I wanted to try it first and return it if it didn't meet my expectations.>>106477397My gaming laptop was still usable for gaming even when it reached temperatures of 105°C. I bought the cooling pad for $106 to achieve greater FPS and reduce wear on the fans, ultimately extending the laptop's lifespan. I don't mind the expense because I had already spent $518 upgrading the RAM and storage, which I anticipated. I would have thought this was to be expected, as it is a drawback of choosing a laptop as a primary workstation instead of a PC.
You have only one realistic solution outside from restricting the clocks and that's to cut holes into the bottom. All of that mesh crap is obstructing the hell out of the airflow. The problem with these modern gaming laptops is that they all insist on the slim form factor and that just doesn't work.Years ago I used to have an Asus g750jz and that chonky fucker had plenty of space for airflow and I had no issues with it whatsoever.Slim gaming laptop is a product that's by default gimped by it's form due to heat related issues.
>>106477608MSI does have a solution but it will cost more. Plus with people like you who see no problem with a computer running higher than the boiling point of water out of the factory, why should they put any more effort?
>>106477608You're gonna get better temps by simply locking your frames
put something underneath it so it is sucking cool air in better. I use a little box from a thing of scotch tape. i put a few rubber bands around it for grip. i pop it on the backside and it improves temps a lot-cooling padcomplete meme, blowing air on a cooling pad isn't gonna do shit. repaste and give the existing fans access to cool air to breathe (by kicking it up ~1 inch at the back) in
>>106477932>blowing air on a cooling pad isn't gonna do shitA cooling pad works by drawing cool air into the laptop while expelling the hot air inside quickly. We've already established that this varies from laptop to laptop. It's not surprising that idiots like you consider it to be a meme.
>>106475849dont buy a gaming pc. i had one lasted 2 years before MOBO fried
>>106478346Only if you buy one of the more expensive one.Think of the cheaper cooling pad as trying to suck a straw with your mouth open.
>>106475849thrown it from a very tall building or cliff, the wind will cool it down, then follow it and try to catch it before it touch the ground
>>106478346it's kind of a meme. if a laptop is overheating 99 percent it's clogged fans or dried out pasteblowing a fan on the bottom of the computer isn't going to stop it from overheating/throttling, it just might make you more comfortable to use it
>>106475849LOL DIS NIGGA BOUGHT 'GAYMIN' LAPTOPS LMAO
>>106475849You don't, retardLaptops have piddly heatsinks, you can throw all the fans in the world at it and it won't make a differenceGo beg the manufacturers not to chase the thin meme like they're competing with apple and give them some metal Also high end laptops are utterly deranged, those things aren't anywhere near their desktop counterparts due to the limitations in cooling and power draw but they cost more
>>106475849>he fell for the gaming laptop memeIn all seriousness I did too once and it was also a piece of shit because of the stupid temps. Desktop only since then.
>>106475849Within the bios: Hold right shift + right ctrl + left alt, then press F2Go to town nigga
>>106477758I had a G75Sw that lasted 10+years at peak performance. A tank that couldn't be stopped. They don't make them like that anymore.
>>106475849>5080 and 9955HX3DThat's too much power and therefore too much heat to reasonably remove in a laptop form factor.Sell it and buy either a desktop or, if you absolutely must have a laptop for portability, a less powerful laptop.>I have two>BothWait what? You have two blast furnace tier gaming laptops, both the same model?
What's the least terrible laptop to use as a gaming laptop if it's not your main PC? My laptop is on its last legs, I already have a gaming desktop, but I'd like to get something that I could use for lighter games that won't implode. I know gaming laptops are a meme but is there anything that sits in that space?

>>106482039for myself + wife... >>106483932was hoping I could cool it down somehow...>>106482039I do have a 10/10 custom desktop build at home in Europe ( currently in US with my wife)My build at home is4070 ti super oc from gigabyte9800x3d32 GB 6000 mhz, G-skill flare x5msi carbon wifi x670eseasonic prime tx 1000w 80 plus titaniumNoctua NH-D15 chromaxbe quiet Silent Base 802 +WindowGPU Temps around 40-50CCPU Temps around 50-60CBest build ever for gaming. But yah I got those two laptops because needed something portable
>>106475849undervolt the cpu
Yeah undervolting is the best solution. Was given an old MSI GF72-8RE with an i7 that was hitting 97 celsius just installing games on steam. Took it apart, repasted the cpu and gpu and all it did was stop it spiking as quickly. Applied a very modest undervolt using a literal text file in Linux Mint and now it maybe hits the low 70s under full load.
If your gaming laptop/workstation whatever is pushing 100 degrees when under load it's working as intended. it's not dangerous for the machine at all and it's not something to worry about
>>106475849Change the monitor orientation to upside-down. Attach an external keyboard and mouse. Suspend the laptop from the ceiling, also upside-down so the heatsink and fan are right-side-up and unencumbered by any sort of surfaces. Turn the aircon down to lower the room's ambient temp.
