CommBank in Australia doesn't depend on googles security shit so it runs fine. Most banks here have adequate web pages though so it's not much of an issue. I'm planning to move to a Linux phone soon so I've tested out a few options.

If you're importing something like a Pinephone or Vola then you'll need to use Telstra as Optus and other providers run an IMEI whitelist and grey imports usually don't make it onto the list. For example, my OP Nord 4 didn't work with Aussie broadband (Optus) but does with belong (Telstra).The Whirlpool forum has a lot of great posts about this.
