Is this possible without rooting the hotspot phone? If so, which VPNs let you do this?NordVPN says "give people your password" and they install the app on their device and use your credentials.I dont feel comfortable not doing that.Any way to achieve this?
>>106479839Install nord VPN on your mobile and connect your laptop to the mobile with Hotspot enabled. Probably should use android because I think Apple wont allow you to use Hotspot with VPN.
>>106479839Yes, but why not just install it on your router? Why the phone?
>>106479874tried thisit doesnt workadroid phone does not pass hotspot data through vpnlooks like I need a vpn-tethering app
>>106479883portability
I don't think you can share vpn connection on android (at least you couldn't before). buy a 20 dollar travel router. or use the raspberry pi you have in your drawer
>>106479915In this case do what this anon told you >>106479883Setup router to work with VPN and switch it off to normal mode when you dont need it. I think its the best way although I've never setup my router with VPN.
>>106479933recommend a portable router
Here's what I don't get - you get a VPN and instead of getting some credentials, you get a shitty middleware app to run? This shit glows as hard as the sun.
>>106479971it seems that android and apple dont naturally pass hotspot traffic through the vpnyou need a middle app to bridge hotspot data to the vpnbut youre rightshouldnt need a middle appit should be a feature of the vpn's appotherwise, the vpn is suspiciously wanting you to install its app on all devices when they know its not necessaryvery glow-ish
>>106479971It's probably a work phone and laptop. OP wants to work from "home" ;)
>>106479839>Is this possible without rooting the hotspot phone?its literally say in the scheme "Connects via WIFI Hotspot"
Not without root, but there's this:https://github.com/Mygod/VPNHotspot
