So here I was on Reddit arguing with some stupid leftist that Arch is truly the greatest distro and he said that nobody uses Arch Linux except for unemployed neets, and normal people are using either Ubuntu or Windows. Is that true? It kind of got to me because I've been unemployed since I finished school and I'm using Arch, but that's just anecdotal evidence so it shouldn't count. What does /g/ think?

No, normal people majority of time use Windows & Mac and then there is the vocal minority that uses Linux and within that the majority is Ubuntu.

First of all more people using a distro doesn't mean it's greater.
Secondly no "normal" person uses GNU/Linux at all besides sysadmins.
Thirdly all of those photos are old and I'm curious if any of them are still using Ubtunu.

I don't know if you ever worked for a tech company, but almost no programmer uses Windows unless they work for Microsoft or are pure C# shop.
>>
yes that's because people just really like to regurgitate other people's opinions without applying any critical thinking. literally doesn't matter, as long as all the software you should need is available use what works for you. whatever you are most productive in is what you should be using. anyone suggesting you do otherwise is retarded. arch is just as stable as the "stable" distros are as long as you set it up sanely, and if you can't do that it would be a miracle that you could handle a job in the first place

Arch probably has a smaller userbase than Ubuntu on the whole but the areas its larger, such as gamers or hobbyist developers ends up carrying Ubuntu in terms of applications and scripts. 10 years ago Ubuntu was the 'it' distro for these people and they've moved to Arch over time.

You should probably stay on Reddit

Confirmed, true.
