When did office suites peak?
>>
>>106483055
before that ribbon ui
>>
The ribbon was retarded, but I recall a huge dive with 2013 snowballing into 365.

2nd this, they just updated visio in the past couple years to make visio 2007 incompatible. office 2019 is clunky and unstable
>>
>>106483055
Office 2016
ribbon is great, stop being a baby duck for 1-D toolbars
>>
>>106483120
This everything after was just shit.
>>
>>106483055
Office 2010 was the comfiest for me. The ribbon isn't great but whatever.
>>
>>106483055
Never. Stop idolising shit.
>>
>>106483055
Works better than 2000 for me which sometimes crashes for some reason.
Second best was 2003. The 2007 has shitty ribbon and I always hated it.

Which are the best office versions of Visio, Access, and Project?

Overall I like the 2001 bundle better, but I'd be perfectly ok with 2003 as it's the last Office with the good GUI. Anything newer than thar is slop and fad.
>>
>>106483120
This, it was the most easy to install and activate without paying, stable and best interface. I still have it.
>>
>>106483055
Definitely 2003. I still install it for my folks since none of them can use ribbons well and the 365 shit is absolute cancer that even I can't figure out how to use without wanting to die.

ClarisWorks had everything you actually needed, yet it was lean and clean. Everything now feels bloated in comparison.

The ribbon is still the most braindead ui change I've ever witnessed. Maybe Hero images in web are worse.

all things MS peaked around year 2000.

Everything older than Office 2016 was good. 2010 was the peak Office experience, in my opinion. Since Office 2019, the whole Office suite has become a bunch of bloated web apps.

ribbon trash. it was already going downhill.

working in IT, I had execs require that I load office 2003 well into the 2010s because they all hated the ribbon. Eventually they had to switch as our IT security policies became more important and formalized, but the ribbon was universally hated by just about everyone in business.

should have made a powerpoint presentation showing a few ways ribbon being more efficient than toolbars (with mandatory made up percentages), then they would escalate the deployment of newer office
>>
>>106483120
2010 is basically 2007 with some minor UI tweaks.
>>
>>106490383
I would sit with them at their desks for hours...
they never got it
they would fumble through things
double click the ribbon minimizing it and not knowing how to get it back
Hell, I had to google a lot of the issues because its just not apparent what happened or how to undo it.

were it not for the increasing need for 'groupware' (outlook/exchange) and that one of our core business tools required ms office, they all liked openoffice (current at that time) better.
