Has anyone ever measured the actual, real-world, practical differences between different internet download speeds? Like how having 100Mb vs 300Mb vs 1Gb translates to actual experience?
depends on what you do. if you regularly download 200gb models from huggingface it's nice to have, but if you browse 4chan and reddit it's pointless
>>106483308I kill you in CoD if your internet is slower.
>>106483308It depends entirely on how you use the internet, there is no real "average" we can draw from as a baseline.Someone downloading UHD bluray torrents all the time is probably going to benefit more from higher speeds than someone who only streams netflix for their media.
>>106483763no thats about ping, how close you are to the server
for casual npc cattle usage 100mbps is plentiful and connection quality is most impactful (routing, jitter, loss)also the vast majority retards run dogshit wifi routers in overcrowded areas (signal-wise), even a perfect 10gbps conection would feel like shiteven worse, most keep their pcs and consoles on wifi (speedtest shows full speed what's the matter??) and their portable devices on 2.4ghzpearls before swine, they deserve nothing
>>106483308well I had dialup and it suckedand then I had 6mb/s and it suckedand then I had 10mb/s and it suckedand then I had 30mb/s and it suckedand the I got upgraded to 100mb/s for free and it was okayand the I got upgraded to 250mb/s for free and thought I needed more and now I'm on 1gb/s and don't think I need more What more would I get anyway? Cloudflare checkpoints everywhere, captchas everywhere, streaming bitrate starved more than ever, need to use some piss slow VPN to access shit anyway because of GDPR shite this isn't what i was promised
>>106484394>because of GDPR shiteWhat does GDPR have to do with access? It just protects you a little from the spyware industrial complex.
>>106484895A lot of American websites block European users because they can't be bothered to comply with the GDPR.>>106483308I have ADSL and it sucks balls. You can't even stream 4K video from YouTube, even though it has a ridiculously low bitrate and looks like shit. Offsite backups are pretty much out of the question since my upload speeds are even worse than my download speeds (the A in ADSL stands for asymmetric). Thankfully, I'm getting FTTH "soon" (my ISP can't give me a date, but they are working on it, and other buildings in my street already have it), and I should get a gigabit connection. To be honest, that's probably overkill, I would be just fine with 300Mb/s.
>>106483308Cloudflare gives 1.5-2.5Mbits
>>106483763I kill you IRL if you play cawadoody
