Wrong.
https://www.gbmb.org/gib-to-gb
Base 2
Gibi is the IEC binary prefix equal to 2^30
1 Gibibyte = 2^30 bytes
1 Gibibyte = 1,073,741,824 bytes
Base 10
Giga is the SI decimal prefix equal to 10^9
1 Gigabyte = 10^9 bytes
1 Gigabyte = 1,000,000,000 bytes
1 byte = 1 Gigabyte / 1,000,000,0001 Gibibyte = 1,073,741,824 bytes
1 Gibibyte = 1,073,741,824 × (Gigabytes / 1,000,000,000)
1 Gibibyte = 1.073741824 Gigabytes

3½-inch floppies were advertised as 1.44MB while in reality they were giving you 12 extra bytes per sector for a whooping total 1.47456 MB. Not that it mattered, though.

when it comes to user interfaces about user storage and not about underlying hardware, it really should just be 1000 GB. underlying hardware, sure, it makes sense to display it in powers of 2.

1024GB == 1TB. I'm a programmer so binary is always implied without resorting to sounding like you have a speech impediment.

You're fucking retarded.
The HDD user interface in old-windows used to tell you tracks and sector counts as well as data locations. You could also configure the segment sizes. You could look at this if you wanted to and was a great way to teach kids how a hard drive worked.

You're advocating for software being dumbed down to the lowest common denominator so the vendors can lie to consumers more easily and the system back end is further removed from the users ability to monitor and configure it.

As it stands I have to download a third party app to do what used to be built into the system and then I have to deal with retards like you who don't know how an SSD stores data or why that even matters.
