I decided in the last month or so that I need to replace my current phone, and was originally planning on buying a Samsung phone, however with Google recently announcing that they will be pushing new APK installation restrictions to Android via Google Play Services and with Samsung deciding to completely kill off unlocking the bootloader in OneUI 8, and therefore removing the ability to install non-stock OSes which avoid the aforementioned restrictions from Google, they are no longer a viable option.

These recent changes have made the ability to install alternative de-googled OSes such as LineageOS or /e/OS non-negotiable. Given that I still need to buy a new phone, what are /g/'s favourite phones which have good de-googling capability?

Your only option if you want something you can absolutely be sure will make phone calls is the stuff that Murena sells. From there, pick your budget, and accept that you'll need another device to take good pictures with.

Not helping.

isn't /e/os less secure than graphene/calyx and pings google via microg?
>>
There are no alternatives. Linux phones aren't ready and may never be. You're either getting fucked by Google or fucked by Apple. Doesn't matter that it's your device and you paid $1000 for it.

just don't use your phone for anything other than banking and phone calls.
literally anything that isn't doomscrolling brainrot is better done on a laptop or PC

what are you even doing with your nsa goytracker?

> Lock down OS to encourage power users to flash custom OS
> Competitor disables flashing custom OS
> Your phones still allow evading the feature you created, attracting customers to you because of the issue you created

Is this retarded thing any good now? Bought one years ago and it literally wasn't a phone so I never used it.

Humble beginnings, it might work now at doing phone things?

These were shit 5 years ago and they're no better now. Ancient hardware on release, Panfrost devs have no intention of adding Vulkan support to the GPU, most other driver devs won't touch it, keyboard case didn't help, plus they've even killed off the Pinephone Pro. You're better off getting one of the many Android phones Postmarket supports and flashing them instead

It works at doing phone things but i had to reflash mine every 2 months or so when i tried to daily mine because it would corrupt itself constantly

Who cares? It's a device your gonna text call an email people with. Not everyone here needs 8GB's of RAM to play Genshit Impact or Blue Balls Archive ya know. Want more power? Carry a laptop around.

I was using my Pinephone solely for calling, texting, email and browsing Mastodon. It was painful enough getting around Phosh, let alone trying to game on it. Pine64 are one of the more notorious vendors for "make the hardware, let the community figure out how to make software for it"
>>
>>106487512
Errrrrmmmm just donate to devs more to develop for it more Smarty McSmarty pants. That way one day retards like me can pick one up and have a relativity hassle free experience using a PinePhone.

Apple has always prevented side loading and yet people have jail broken every single iphone since forever. Why should Google be any more effective?

Your options for phones without headphones are incredibly slim if you want anything modern. Even more so for sd-cards. It's really over.
