Is it common to lose frames in a video where they use elaborate subtitle fonts?
>use MPCHC + K-Lite Mega Codec Pack
>last year watching Symphogear (Quantum)
>video freezes for a second because they used a wacky font for Kirika's signature moves
>this year watching Girls Band Cry (neoDesu)
>video-clips at 4-5 FPS because they used elaborate effects on the subs
>this year watching Zurückspulen (GERMini)
>opening freezes for half a second every time a new sub line has to be loaded

Is it just MPCHC that sucks? Does the same happen in something like VLC or MPV?

didnt have frame drops despite elaborate .ass subs with VLC, though if you seek back it wont have subs until the next entry.
mpv was performant and no seeking issues
