Ever since RTX launched they've been dead Gets worse every yearGamers want ray tracing?
zoom out
>>106485914>Gamers want ray tracing?i think gamers are not the whole equation anymore, people underestimate the amount of hobbyists that want to use LLMs locally or generate anime 1girl pictures, and not having CUDA makes everything a fucking pain in the assthe hardware was never AMD's downfall, it was the software
>>106485914Gamers just want a GPU with functioning drivers. Now that Nvidia has total graphics cards dominance, they'll ignore gamers to please enterprise customers.
>>106485914>Discrete Desktop GPU market shares>2015>Intel: 0.1%?
>>106485914I think AMD made a mistake ignoring the high-end this generation.
nvidia still dominates OEM/SI markets. very few people build and upgrade their own PCs.
>>106485914AMD still thrives in the gaming console space. Every PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sale is also a Radeon sale.
>>106486556AMD is paid upfront, not by the sale. Also NVIDIA dominates console market as well thanks to Switch and Switch 2 which are far far far more popular than PS4,PS5, and any Xbox
>>106485914They literally price same perfomance Nvidia tier GPUS at nvidia price. Why would anyone in right mind buy an AMD if they are at same price as Nvidia?
>>106485914Just good enough upscaling technology.Just good enough Frame Generation technology. Bad Ray Tracing technology.
wait for udnardna was an abortion and amd realised this after 6900xt flopped against a 3090 due to features
>>106486227Probably those weird Broadwell Xeons with extra beefy iGPUs being misreported. That's my guess, because the timing lines up?
>>106486525No coincidence that nvidia started dominating around covid when a lot of people bought more powerful computers, and probably stuck with or recommended nvidia because that was what they knew.
>>106485914Developers came out recently and said that basically most of the peope playing their games use DLSS, ray tracing and frame generation
>>106485914Have you seen Cyberpunk using DLSS4 on the switch 2? then compare that to the snoy using FSR and you should have your answer
>>106486759When digital foundry said this they got accused of being shillsbut I'm still skeptical on how many are using frame generation, unless lots of people are using that lossless scaling garbage
>>106486792It obviously depends on the game but smooth motion for me is much better than most of the devs frame gen implementation and my latency does not go to shit because it runs on the tensor cores, yes there are artifacts and shimmering there but i gurantee you the average retard playing on the couch with a controller will not notice them
>>106486773For some reason CP77 is still stuck on FSR2 despite updating the engine for DLSS4
>>106486556Consoles are a dying industry unless they are bing wahoo tablets.
>>106486586>Switch and Switch 2 are far far far more popular than PS4,PS5, and any Xboxthat's just not true
>>106486855PS5 is still way too expensive and they keep raising its price
>>106486792I'd say more people are using it now because it's essentially baked into game settings in the past couple of years. Average High settings now is - DLSS Quality, Ray Medium, low settings is DLSS Performance, low RT, etc. etc. as examples. The situation has turned around so that you essentially have to manually turn upscaling off if you don't want it.
>>106486872blame trump, not snoy
>>106486227intel made a graphics chip back in the late 90s, its possible that there were some spare parts sales for legacy systems.
>>106485914CUDA ate their lunch
>>106486759It's unsurprising that people are using it when you have to go out of your way to disable any upscaling or fake frame tech, and in some games you can't even turn RT off entirely.I just don't engage with current games any more, it's all gone to shit.
>>106486670UDNA is coming basically as salvation for AMD, unifying everything under a single software suite umbrella, but it's a bit hard to believe given AMDs track record with software. It's suffering to support this cursed company, holy fuck
>>106487549UDNA does not existthe software lift is "easy" because it's all still GCN for the compiler
>>106487460The only part that is actually good is DLAA and it is never enabled by default in any game. Weird how that works. If I was a conspiracy theorist I would have some ideas to explain this
>>106486670>wait forlol"UDNA" is just CDNA merging changes from RDNA by the wayit is gfx12 but with two CU bundled together and a new cache structureCDNA will continue to have HPC and matmul variants. then retarded gamers will be surprised that somehow AMD made their gaymer chips good at upscaling when all they did was add a 2 big matmul blocks per shader array instead of one
>>106486670they knew it from the beginning, the rx 5700 xt is a regression, they sacrificed peak performance for ease of use, vega II is more performant than rdna 1 in basically every task when optimization is performed, the only thing that they really resolved with rdna was the bandwidth efficiency, but they ended up using a huge l3 cache anyway making the cu and cache changes redundant imo.
>>106488270Are you trying to say that AMD rigged the game against themselves on purpose? Was the Raja hate justified?
Sorry Jensen, I have a 9070XT I got launch day at MSRP, it's been great and I still wont be buying nVidia.
>>106488289they made a mistake, raja is probably the cause, nvidia invested heavily in compute/ai which extends to to their consumer products, vega and earlier gcn products follow the same path. rdna's design focuses on traditional gpu rendering, less on peak compute, the thinking was that they would do better with specialized architectures for both markets (cdna for compute/ai , rdna for consumer graphics) , but in practice they basically kneecapped themselves on the consumer sidenvidia used their compute for technologies like dlss, framegen and denoising for rt, all of which require more compute than rdna 1 and 2 can offer, rdna 3 brings some of the capability back and rdna 4 expands on it, but if you look back at vega II amd already had quad-rate int8 in a consumer graphic chip, which offers a big speed up for AI workloads, so essentially the reason amd has not been able to release an ai based upscaler and lagged behind with rt until now is likely because of the move to rdna. . IMO there is a good chance that udna will be based mostly on CDNA(gcn/gfx9) rather than rdna for this reason,
>>106488762Which is funny because nvidia saw what AMD was doing with GCN and that caused them to pivot. They literally swapped places when it comes to compute / raster.I still remember people calling me retarded for buying a GTX 980 Ti because it wouldn't be good for rendering videos and productivity. The same people are saying that nvidia is the only choice for workstations.I fucking hate normies.
>>106485914Nvidia price minus $50 is just not a good enough sales strategy
Drifts apart in 2022, around the time the AI hype was at its max.I'd presume the AMD:nVidiot ratio is around 3:1 on Loonix, we're probably a safe customer base for their discrete GPU solutions. They need the graphic tech anyhow for APUs, so if with just a little more effort, they can also make desktop GPUs, they will, without needing or wanting to usurp the market leader. They said they'd swing around to a more mainstream, less flagship, solution (i.e. more perf/price-ratio).Does the 9000-series keep that promise?I'm OOTL.
>>106485914- customers want to buy from the company making the best cards, even if they buy one from a lower tier- AMD's software support is ASS. drivers, tools, gpgpu, everything.
>>106485914>Intel from 0% to 4% to 0% within the span of 2 yearsthat can't be right
>>106491369>people hype arc>intel refuses to support DX11 and prior>people who bought arc were all poor and playing old games only>it performs dogshit>they buy AMD/NVIDIA
>>106486868Switch 1 is on track to becoming the best-selling console of all time (if it's not already there)
>>106485914i only used amd cards because of hackintosh, now it's dead my next build gonna be nvidia
>>106491430I refuse to believe that many people bought Arc
>>106491430don't forget that arc required rebar so most poorfags with haswell-skylake couldn't use it properly
>>106485914GeForce 8000 Series was the beginning of the end the Radeon brand, HD 7000 series being a flop because AMD showed their hand too soon was the final nail in the coffin.
>>106485914They stopped being able to compete even before that, more precisely 1 gen before that when NVIDIA released Pascal (GTX 1000 series) and utterly wrecked AMD. Even Maxwell before that was a superior product compared to the rebrands AMD was peddling at the time. And that's pretty much it. They stopped being able to compete while their market share started eroding. Once RTX launched they were constantly behind on features as well, not just performance. The thing is I don't even think they're trying to compete. If you look even farther back in the past, when their market share was looking much more healthy, AMD still didn't always have the fastest cards, but they were willing to offer exceptional value. They no longer offer that, now they sell cards that are still fucking expensive, just a minor price cut compared to NVIDIA but without the features and other useful shit NVIDIA cards have. The 9070XT might suggest a tiny shift in AMD's stance, what with FSR4 finally being acceptable quality and with them mostly fixing RT performance, but it's certainly not enough yet.
>>106492178I've been told by several people that the 9070XT is a better card than the 5070TI
>>106492227Yeah, I think AMD has done an uncharacteristically good job with it. The crippling RT weakness has been mostly shored up and FSR4 actually looks good enough to be worth considering as an alternative to DLSS (not as good as DLSS4, but seems to match DLSS3 which was also pretty good). I think the value on the card still isn't that amazing, it's still just "slightly better than NVIDIA" but at least it's progress in the right direction.
>>106492227You were told that paid AMD shills. One brand has an organic fanbase, reflected by real world marketshare, the other has paid shills who've never used the video card they recommend. It's seriously that simple. Every stat, whether it's market research firms or valve's hardware survey or what's stocked in-stores, shows that nvidia overwhelmingly outsells AMD, yet there are hordes online pushing AMD cards. Funny.
>>106485914Video games are not the focus. Its AI, which Nvidia dominates despite how under performing and overpriced their 50 series is when it comes to gaming
>>106485914greedy margins. If they priced this generation of gpus aggressively they would have taken a lot of market share back. Once in a lifetime chance really. But there is a woman in charge so no vision just management. Sad to see.
I think the other guy nailed it. Nvidia is still feeding off of the legendary 10 series, that 1 series built such a stronghold on the industry even after the years and years of locked features, higher prices and lower tiers getting killed on silicon/cuda count/vram the mental lock they have on the market is too impregnable. 10 series just killed AMD, who didn't own a card in the 10 series, at any tier and love it. Ironically it's also the time nvidia saw they can really start getting away with bullshit like the 1060 3GB.
>>106486670It won't magically produce CUDA out of thin air. ROCm is still not a full replacement because much of the software will just refuse to run if the legitimate CUDA is not present.
>>106485914>Gamers want ray tracing?gamers don't give a shit about gay tracing. gamers want performance and cuda, two things that AMD cannot provide on the GPU market. and on top of that, they're selling their GPUs at prices that could only work if they were in a dominant position, considering their GPUs are not only more expensive than Nvidia's, but also worse in every aspect. AMD can only compete (and does it very well) in the CPU and gaming consoles markets nowadays
>>106485914Nvidia invented the GPU nigga what do you expect?
>>106493754NVIDIA would be nowhere without poaching all of Silicon Graphics and S3 engineers and cross licensing with both along with 3DFX
>>106493051>Ironically it's also the time nvidia saw they can really start getting away with bullshit like the 1060 3GB.Did you forget about the GK104 GTX 6"""80"""? NVIDIA was always like this
>>106493966>>NVIDIA would be nowhere without hiring good staff and paying them well and making them multimillionaires those monsters
>>106486908Lies.https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2025/08/todays-game-consoles-are-historically-overpriced/
>>106485914>Gamers want ray tracing?Gamers want DLSS because it's sadly the only option for triple-digit framerates in most brand new titles unless you have a 5090. FSR can't compare.
>>106492259>sales = superiorityHow much stock do you own?
>>106492259Calm down there, Loserbenchmark. I have a 9070XT and it beats the 5080 in the new battlefield at my resolution. It’s the perfect GPU for us AM4 poorfags who need to reduce driver overhead from the GPU as much as possible to maximize our builds. It’s something like a 20-30% difference in CPU usage, why RDNA4 gets better lows. I’d still probably have bought the 5070ti if it was anywhere close to MSRP, but a $600 OC’d 9070XT was way too good a deal to pass up.
>>106493972Nvidia sucked until Kepler/Maxwell so no one noticed.
>>106486853Because putting in the work to update FSR isn't worth it, since there's so few AMD users with cards powerful enough to actually run Cyberpunk out there lmao
>>106494159>fsr can't comparefsr 4 exists, and it definitely can compare to dlss.
>>106494545Well good on AMD for making it RDNA4 exclusive meanwhile DLSS4 works on all RTX cards
>>106492178>RTX>featuresThe rest of this shitty thread at least acknowledges the lackluster performance and driver issues without astroturfing.
