It could be coming to your dentist’s office soon. >After applying the keratin film to a tooth sample, the scientists found that it formed an ordered, strong and crystal-like coating similar to biological enamel when it came in contact with minerals in saliva. Over the course of a month, the coating attracted calcium and phosphate ions, building up a hard, protective layer over the tooth.>"We are entering an exciting era where biotechnology allows us to not just treat symptoms but restore biological function using the body's own materials," Elsharkawy said. "With further development and the right industry partnerships, we may soon be growing stronger, healthier smiles from something as simple as a haircut."Basically tooth decay will be a thing of the past once this biotech is fully incorporated into dentistry products
>>106486219Sure sure... but for how much?
Don't they already have stuff like this but the issue is it's hard to apply it to an individual tooth while it's in your mouth? Yeah a single tooth on a plate is fine, applying it to multiple teeth in your mouth will turn your teeth into one giant tooth
>>106486266That's a feature, not a bug.
>>106486266Probably would be incorporated into bonding material or professional treatments that have to be handled in some specific way. Pretty sure all of the "toothpaste" treatments are always a scam just due to the application not being controlled enough.
>>106486219Sounds cool, can't wait for it to be prohibitively expensive
How's it differ from CPP-ACP, bioglass or nano hydroxyapatite?
>>106486604It basically isn't? Since it creates a layer on top of the enamel rather than repairing it
>>106486266Sounds like a good thing. Can't get food stuck inbetween teeth anymore.
>>106488436Not really.Your teeth slowly move and drift depending on factors such as how hard you grind them, inflammation and how much fluid you have in your sinuses
>>106486266>turn your teeth into one giant toothReally? I want that more than anything. Tell me more?
>>106488444That only applies to teeth, not tooth. My one giant tooth moves and drifts for no man.
