This shit is gonna pop worst than the dot com bubble, isn't it?

>rent back
>its own chips
i'm no genius in regards to understanding the business world but is this like some kind of tax avoidance / minimization scam? i don't get it.

No.

these aren't nvidia GPUs, they're Lambda GPUs! See! All above board here. Nvidia? An investor in Lambda ? Yes they are but I don't see what that has to do with anything. Lambda certainly isn't nvidia's puppet and is certainly not setting the expected price other customers will be expected to pay for their services.
>>
>>106486537
don't believe any fake news.

even gamer retards know that nvidia only sells the chips to partners and those partners actually build a useable graphic card with that chip.
>>
>>106486526
I see leatherjacketman learned the huawei style cloud services incest shell game.
>>
>>106486526
Cope luddite.
>>
>>106486526
they probably don't want to "diversify" into cloud services where they would suddenly be seen as a competitor to most of their customers
it's simply good business/optics
>>
>>106486526
I thought gpu and cpu chips were cheap as hell to manufacture and its all in the R&D, what's the point if this?
>>
>>106486537
>They get 1.5 billion in revenue from selling the cards
>1.5 billion cost to rent the cards back.
>Earnings report headline only has the revenue number in it.
>A week later somebody notices the cost and writes an article that everybody ignores.
>>
i didnt read the article, so was it coreweave? if it is, that means they just circling the profit back into their own.
>>
Hey man, can i borrow that car i sold you the other day? I'll fill it up with gas for ya.
>>
>>106487443
semiconductors are the single most expensive endeavor humans have ever gone on, with no comparison.
they are not cheap by any metric
>>
>>106488665
nvidia could just shit out more chips for themselves for 150k, not 1.5b
>>
>>106486526
those numbers are starting to mean nothing to me, the relativity to real things is getting lost.

why not just rob silicon valley people? what are they going to do? close our gmail idrive? wait for some alexander karp to beat us up? they rob us, we rob them. right?

like for real, the capitol was stormed and needs tanks now for that not to happen again. what does sv have? "fentanyl spraying drones"?! wtf r they smoking that they think they're safe?
>>
>>106489285
actually the drones have canisters of nerve gas, the fentanyl will be dumped out of actual planes
>>
>>106487443
>I thought gpu and cpu chips were cheap as hell to manufacture
no, the material cost is low since its basically refined sand but it requires incredibly expensive specialized machines operated by skilled workers

why's everyone becoming retarded and doesn't know who nvidia's customers are anymore?
nvidia literally had to put in a note in their 10-q form next to customers because everyone forgot.

Gamers. The executives are gamers themselves, they're just noobs and you are annoying me.

gamers are the only people that still know this. gamers aren't buying their graphic card from nvidia but some aib like asus.

Think of it like Ford or GM paying trucking companies to use their trucks to make deliveries for them.

Could Ford operate it's own logistical tucking operation? Sure. Is it cheaper to let someone else do it for them? Maybe to Likely.

unironically this.
this revenue breakdown is by 'markets' that nvidia pr freely invented.
you need to actually read their 10-k and go by 'reportable segments' not their fantasy 'markets' which no one audits.
>>
>>106489836
being able to buy used graphics cards once it pops for cheap is going to be glorious.

It's only cheaper to hire an outside company to do something when you have to do it occasionally. If it's something that you're doing all the time it's almost always cheaper to run it in house. But modern companies fucking hate doing anything that isn't their "core business" in house. They'll gladly pay someone out the ass to do the same thing they could hire someone to do for less than half the cost.
>>
>>106490137
modern companies?
car companies always outsourced everything to their suppliers which car companies then could blackball to take all the risk for hardly any profit.
a car company basically makes the engine and bends the car body. the rest is outsourced.
>>
>>106490156
Of course everyone in something like car manufacturing outsources some parts to other companies. That's not what I'm talking about here tho.

I'm talking about outsourcing IT departments, logistics, anything that isn't within the core business of the company.
>>
>>106486526
Transformers were a giant leap for AI, and it's replacing certain jobs, but it's absolutely not the revolution the markets are clearly treating it as so far.
Compared to that, "Dot Com" was an actual revolution. So yeah, the bubble's burst is going to be worse. I have no idea when exactly it is going to burst, though.
Considering the apparent unlimited supply of gullible retards in the Western world ("BLM", "LGBTQIA+", "FFF/LG"), it may take a while.
