>> A thread for everyone who needs help getting familiar with MilkyTracker>> One rule: stick to the topic please :)
>>106486672Why should I use it over Impulse Tracker?
>>106486672>>106486707I thought anyone still making tracker music was using MODPlug ..
>>106486672Haven't used MT in a while, usually been using Renoise. Great software though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5B1s2qGt3Y&list=RDW5B1s2qGt3Y&start_radio=1 it is to difficult to make a track like this one?
>>106486672isn't there a general for this...
>>106488046It depends on how much musical knowledge and talent you have.Learning how to use tracker software, on a technical level, isn't going to magically make you a good musician. Just like being a good visual artist isn't a matter of knowing how to use Krita. But the cool thing about tracker software is that it gives you the ability to study and dissect other artists' work. You can see everything they did, and you can mute/isolate channels to build an understanding of how each part of the tune works together. And that can help you become a better musician.
>>106486672desu there's not really much to even know when it comes to learning how to use MilkyTracker.>How to load, draw, and edit samples>How to solo channels>How to adjust the speed/tempo of the song>op codes for volume adjustment, arpeggio, etc.All of that can be learned in a day. The difficult part about using MilkyTracker is actually coming up with a good song.
>>106486672chad thread>>106488046>is it difficultseems difficult at first but it's pretty easy. a lot of patterns in a track aren't going to be unique so it's just a matter of copy/pasting a lot. easy. hardest part is getting ideas for the music itself
>>106488229>All of that can be learned in a day.learning what the commands do.. yeah. sure. doing something creative with all those commands, not something you can do in a day. that takes a lot of practice.
>>106489093That's exactly my point, anon. Using MilkyTracker is more of a "creativity" problem than a technical/software thing.
>>106489094very much like that. you get to a point after a lot of practice where you can just throw down any idea you can imagine but that imagination sometimes goes for a walk when it shouldn't.
>>106489102Yeah... and with that, I think you can train your musical mind over time, too. Really, what you should ask yourself is... is making music fun to me? Is it enjoyable? If it is, then just do it.You'll get better at it over time, just like anyone else who practices any of their skills. Coming up with chord progressions, rhythms, melodies, interesting musical improvisations... it's something you can train your mind to get better at. Your abilities on day one aren't necessarily going to be reflective of your abilities on day 1000 or whatever. But if making music is painful for you... if you don't enjoy the process in and of itself, then why bother? Find a hobby that you actually like engaging in
Let me guess, you "need" more.

>>106489842Every note in that tracker sequence is way off its actual pitch... probably a consequence of using some arbitrarily sized samples which don't map to 12 tone TET >t perfect pitch chad who just hears the difference between whats on the screen and what's actually playing 'wont fool me bruv
>>106489884> probably a consequence of using some arbitrarily sized samplesthat is exactly why.
>>106486672When I dabbled with trackers I went with Schism. MT though looks nicer is too much mouse clicky-clicky. Having to load sample before being able to listen to it is especially annoying.
