There are only 2 bias shills and anti-shills in /pcbg/

Who here owns one?
>>
>>106486854
from my personal research they all suck and have issues.
IPS shit flickers and gets dark spots but is cheap but overall crappy from the technology. so throwaway poorfag shit.
OLED has dead pixels and burn in bullshit and is expensive but the tech is somewhat ok when it works.
>>
>>106486854
for me it's mini led IPS
>>
>>106486854
Oled is great if you aren't doing wagie work on your computer. The dark blacks, superior response time, local dimming without halos are all superior to lcd panels.

The current crop of oled panels from LG are good to upgrade to. The samsung qdoleds with the shifting black levels under light seem bad.
>>
I own 5 terras which dunk on every other display when it comes to viewing angles and I paid 40 EUS.

I bet americans are seething with rage seeing me with them, happy.
>>
>>106486854
>PG32UCDM is my main
No complaints so far. I even forgot to turn it off when I went to work once and it was sitting on the login screen for 14hrs, not a hint of burn-in. I don't use it at a high brightness though (it's at 13 in the menu, but that's so I'm not blinded in my light-controlled room).

>>106487596
I've had zero issues with my monitor so far and it's been roughly a year without me babying it too much.
>>
>>106486854

not monitors, get LG OLED TV's, the C3 or higher, you can get C3's for 800~ they come with G and Freesync, up to 140+ FPS at 4K

once you see pure blacks you'll never go back, also they just updated a few months ago to include Chromecast native support too, so if you use SmartTV features, it has everything, and all you have to do is set it to Filmaker Mode for perfect picture out of the box.
>>
>>106486854
LG C1 was the best OLED monitor ever
Now LG TVs suck donkey dick(dithering, forced sharpening, whites look neon green and pink) and even qd-oled monitors have dithering(although it is tolerable, at least)
Do not buy WOLED monitor unless you can guarantee it has neither dithering or CPC(software vignetting, look it up), since neither can be toggled off if present...
Samsung TV sucks too for similar reasons(upscaling has forced sharpening)
Other than that it's great, WOLED displays whites sharper but only dci-p3 gamut in hdr, QD-OLED has purer whites, higher than dci-p3 gamut in HDR, better black handling but it has fringing on the border of white objects since it has no white subpixel, it also displays retro vidya slightly less optimally because of the triangular arrangement,
>>
>>106488313
C3 displays dark vidya and kino in motion worse than even a CX or C1 but still better than (((G4))) or (((G5))), it also can't into whites without looking hello kitty pink courtesy of shit tier (((WBE))) antireflection coating
>>
>>106486854
I have a LG 65g3 and 27gs95. I wouldn't recommend getting oled monitors. While I like mine, they just dont look as good as tvs. If anyone is considering getting an OLED, get a 42in+. The people that complain about getting an oled are always monitor buyers.
>>
>>106488006
Me on the right.
>>
>>106486854
Theres no real point in them since theres no desktop setup powerful enough to where you can run them to their full extent yet. If you're rich then I don't you shouldn't buy it.

i surely hope you arent using the HDRmeme bullshit, all my reviews are based on SDR Filmaker Mode,

also you have to adjust your GPU, on AMD you go into Adrenaline and switch the Global Display settings, Pixel Format to RGB 4:4:4 (Limited)

this technically isnt nessisary for most games, but RDR2 had a glitched setting that would try to output HDR even if your windows HDR was disabled, manually changing your GPU setting is the only way to fix it.

that's probably what you're experiencing.

im sure NVIDIA has a similar feature and Intel GPUs, do not leave anything related to video range on auto, manually set it to limited on your TV/monitor, your Windows settings and your GPU software

Make sure you buy one with a blue LED shining into your face all the time.

>>106488424
I have contrast 63 but a different display. Your numbers are very impressive!
>>
>>106486854
They're beautiful and it blew my mind seeing standard #000000 black being indistinguishable from the monitor being completely off, not to mention the absurd angles
However many models have dimming at brightness levels you'll regularly see in video games and it's extremely noticeable
Burn-in is a huge meme, especially if you set any sort of automatic monitor turnoff delay or if you turn your PC off regularly. ABL is much more annoying if you're used to IPS. Expect to spend a day fiddling with it to get it right, but if you're willing to do that you'll be happy.

I dislike gamma. Gamma settings on desktop computers are hard to set up on almost everytime. In games you sometimes only need to press escape and then click 1 to 2 times to set it up, on Macs you need to recalibrate your whole display. If you are lucky you can set it up in your GPU driver on Windows, but it's not guaranteed to stick after updoots of either the driver or Windows. In Linux you have to hope you don't break Xorg when you enter some obscure terminal command.
>>
Remember brightness wheels? CRTs had them, I wish manufagturers would bring them back. But they're too busy sucking cock.

Every day the sun rises and goes down. Every day I have to enter some kind of konami code into all displays to adapt to the varying rooms brightness. Every day I am remembered of modern tech being a pile of excrement worth setting on fire.
>>
>>106486854
I'm still using a CRT. Far better on the eyes.

>black level 49
>limited(TV side)
>"HDRmeme" + RDR2 displaying broken hdr even in sdr mode
What the fuck???
You're just crushing and clipping the gamma curve and also potentially rasing blacks with this shit
HDR works fine but some games need renodx in order to not look like ass(cf. STALKER 2)
How did you manage to make this bug occur with RDR2? The game is poop but at least the fake HDR can still be turned off right???
>>
>>106488496
You just need a display that properly tracks the target gamma curve, no need to touch in software settings
In software gamma correction just degrades the image
>>
>>106488508
just use twinkle tray
>>
Isn't apple studio monitor OLED? Why is theirs so successful
>>
>>106487596
i still remember the days when everyone and their grandma were shilling IPS as the premium monitor tech but the few I've owned all had significant uniformity issues and backlight bleed
>>
>>106487968
OLEDS have terrible nits. They'd be near perfect otherwise.

Maybe tandems will solve it.
>>
>>106488758
>twink gay is already at version (v1.17.0)
Does this mean the brightness regulation of monitors needs updoots nowadays? Oh my god, every day we stray further from Saten

I had a 27 inch 1440p QD-OLED and I honestly didn't like it, colors were over saturated and blacks looked kinda purple unless my room was pitch black. I gave it to my brother and bought a 32 inch 4K WOLED display and I really really love it, everyone online says my monitor sucks because its WOLED and has a matte finish and I'm probably the only person in the world who actually likes it. I really like the soft paper whites along with the nice but not overly saturated colors, and the blacks are always completely black. I think you should go into a store and see monitors for yourself, not just blindly believe what people say online
>>
>>106488496
You just need a setting for gamma2.2 and gamma srgb that's all.
Video games use either one or the other, often modern games ported from consoles or that have a mobile presence use gamma2.2, older ones all use srgb.
>>
>>106488496
gamma is supposed to be set properly by your display manufacturer and not need any software corrections
just avoid displays with inaccurate gamma so that manufacturers start taking note and shipping properly calibrated displays

>get LG OLED TV's, the C3 or higher, you can get C3's for 800~

Where are they going for $800? Best I see is around $1000.
