I have an HP Pavilion x360. It is an ancient piece of technology filled with irreplicable software. As such, I maintain it like fucking mechanicus priest with a titan.I have numerous itch.io games installed, some of which no longer exist online. Even when the laptop was new I encountered a phenomenon I call ziprot, where zip files that were recently downloaded would unzip fine, but if I waited a day it wouldn't unzip correctly. As a result, while I have the original zip files for most of my itch game collection, they likely cannot be used to redownload the files. The fan is now loudly always running. A rubber coated wire is exposed at one of the hinge holes. The screen is cracked and at the bottom is only held on by duck tape, and recently a nail going thorough plastic (don't worry it isn't in contact with any running wires). At the top right corner cracked glass is held in place with tape and super glue. The touchscreen obviously, no longer works and had to be turned off in settings. I also have a PC, which for some reason also has zip rot, but recently also lost the ability to correctly download zip files off of Mod db or itch.io. Mega still works though. I'm at my father's house while my mom is on vacation, so I don't have access to that PC. I went to download a copy of duke nukem atomic edition onto my laptop so I could play the game at my dad's house, but the bottom broke more when I tried to open the shut laptop. So I nailed a loose plastic sheet that was under the broken glass into the outer plastic casing behind it through an existing nail hole that once connected to something, then cut the excess nail off an filed down that end before duck taping that glass back ontop of the nail. To clarify this tape is on a section of glass bellow the display, and it is attached to glass that goes over the screen. For several days that worked fine. Then yesterday it started crashing whenever unplugged, and today I can't open any of the folders.
Also my search indexing is turned off and won't turn back on.
