something went wrong on my side going from 12 to 13. Did a fresh install with steam and it already had proton set and ready to go.No configuration on my end needed.
>>106490623I prefer arch with the archinstall script.
>>106490623>systemdinto the trash it goes
>>106490623I thought Steam on Linux always comes with Proton preinstalled?
>>106490680Debian is like a traditional wife. Arch is like a whore.
>>106490623I precer ubuntu-based since it has more program binaries available, specially ppa's
>>106490623Proton has defaulted to on for months now, that is a change Valve themselves made
>>106490688Devuan or just install a different init. You do know how to do that, right?
>>106490623>something went wrong on my side going from 12 to 13so many people had issues migrating to Trixie, what's the point of using a stable distro if it's going to shit the bed anyway and you still end up reinstalling the whole thing every release?
>>106490623Is there a GUI method to switch from Debian 12 to 13 or do you have to sed your apt sources?
>>106491064Yeah you can do it from the "app store" in gnome or kde.
>>106490690It does, OP is being retarded. There's a lot more to configure than that if you're planning on gaming with Linux on a wide range of games.
>>106491052you're supposed to wait for ver .2>>106490680/thread
>>106490623>Did a fresh install with steam and it already had proton set and ready to go.That's thanks to Steam, not Debian. They pushed a client update a month or two back that enabled Proton by default. This works on any distro.
>>106490623>something went wrong on my sideWhat exactly?
>>106490796Imma live by your quote now ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ
>>106491052Skill issue. >nano etc/apt/sources.list >replace all "bookworm" with "trixie">save file and exit>apt update>apt full-upgradewow that was hard
>>106492314This. I updated to Debian 13 on my work machine. All I did was look up an article with these steps and it just werked.
>>106490623you my friend are realizing why people here shit on debian
>>106492334It's been working for me since Stretch. Sometimes the process is a little bit more involved than just replacing the version code name; I remember making the switch from Bullseye to Bookworm required a little more typing but barely. Still worked out fine in the end.
>>106490623It's a great distro but what's with all this shilling of it lately?
>>106492406You have to understand, Linux just working makes us upset. (We) would like you to suffer.
