Is it because I’ve been watching old anime from the 80s that the sound feels muffled, kind of low, and not very high quality?I feel like I’m going crazy I even uninstalled the new audio drivers, but it made no difference. My system volume is at 67%, and my headphones (the ones with the dragon logo on the sides) are set to high volume. What’s the ideal volume configuration, and how can I make sure the audio quality is as good as possible?

>>106496829System volume to 100%, headphones set to medium.equalizer settings: bass -2, mid +4, treb +3Audio DLSS set to "Quality", disable audio v-sync
>>106496888>audio v-synclost it
>>106496829Don't know if that's what you mean but modern audio recorded by "voice actors" is generally shit. It all sound like someone in a noise-isolated room *talking very close to the mic in a deep voice* no matter where the scene is set.I think what you mean is the lack of background sound effects. You only hear the voice, nothing happening in the background or the more immersive sounds like cars that would fit the scene. In Serial Experiments Lain it is the humming of the electricity poles for example. There is nothing like that in modern anime.
>>106497064yep that It all sound like someone in a noise-isolated roomalso lack of good Sound effects they are very low compared to the voice actingHaibane renmei (2002) had amazing Sound effects
>>106496829I had a similar situation. Turns out it was my ears. Your ability to hear high end weakens with age. It could be earwax, also.
i don't know about anime but shitty muffled audio is a well documented and despised issue in current modern film and television that basically forces you to use subtitles all the time now
>>106496888...............nigga wut
here is an example any issues? like music too loud or voice actor has a low voicehttps://files.catbox.moe/n03fhp.webm
>>106497712the music is way too loud but all modern garbage anime is like that
>>106497712qt feet
>>106497721okay thanks so it wasn't just me lol
>>106497657Oh, you're probably on a mac huh? Shit, I don't know the new ones very well. On Snow Leopard it was settings > audio settings > advanced audio settings > audio sync offset. Sorry I can't be more help
>>106496829 rm -rf ~/.config/pulse/* pulseaudio -k sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/audio_disable_powersave.conf options snd_hda_intel power_save=0 sudo alsa force-reload pulseaudio -k sudo apt install pavucontrol systemctl --user daemon-reload
>>106496888>Audio DLSS set to "Quality", disable audio v-sync
>>106496888this is not real
>>106496888Kek anon
>>106496829It's simply because of the recording medium.Magnetic tapes aren't as transparent as digital recording making pro-processing more problematic. They lack the crispy "sizzle" often associated with hi-fi audio.iZotope RX might be able to help a bit with its spectral recovery tool.
>>106498268>post-processing
>>106496867Lack of ambient noise/static makes it very sterile sounding even if it is a real voice actor.
