Asking again because the last thread died.Is there any portable player that will allow me to connect with a subsonic/navidrome server that doesn't run android? Everything just seems to be either the most barebone OS ever made or just a fucking phone.
The “KB EAR” Coffee eartips have been generating a fair bit of buzz among reviewers lately, so I decided to purchase a set and see what all the fuss was about. Interestingly, these eartips don’t seem to feature in KB EAR’s main product catalogue, which leads me to believe they are sold under consignment. Now, let’s address the elephant in the room: are these eartips worth your time and money? From my perspective, the answer is a resounding no! Their performance is mediocre at best, and here is why. My initial impression was how congested the upper frequencies sounded, despite the fact that these eartips have a wide bore. Typically, wide-bore eartips, such as KB EAR’s own TRI Clarions, tend to accentuate the treble, lending a sparkle and liveliness to the overall presentation. In this instance, however, the Coffee eartips sounded as if the upper frequencies were struggling to break free. The soundstage is surprisingly narrow as well, which is rather disappointing. Vocal presence is acceptable, but due to the aforementioned treble congestion, female voices can sound somewhat nasal. The bass is rather weak, too. There is a hint of mid-bass bloat, which adds a bit of body, but there is no real definition or texture. The sub-bass also sounds dispersed, rather than delivering a straight, deep dive.On a more positive note, these eartips are indeed comfortable for extended listening sessions, as one of the reviewers highlighted. They certainly live up to that claim. Personally, I would not recommend the KB EAR Coffee Soft Silicone Eartips. While they are undoubtedly comfortable, they ultimately degrade the sound performance of your IEMs. In my opinion, the sonic compromises outweigh the comfort benefits, making these eartips a less-than-ideal choice for discerning audiophiles. There are far better options available on the market that offer both comfort and superior sound quality.Purchase from KB EAR AliExpress Official Store

XSL is the iem brand that's going under the radar. Has alu iems as low as $20, and their pricey ones only hit like $100. Meanwhile, they graph really well above their price range. This is their $50 one compared to Dunu Davinci. Imo, it punches above it's weight.

newfag here, I want to buy a DAC that has both 3.5 and 4.4mm connector, should I buy Snowsky Melody or spend extra and get Echo Mini instead? or is there any cheaper option?

Just bought my first IEM and I'm discovering that my right ear is slightly weaker than my left. Which was always the case, but a IEM makes the difference so much more noticeable compared to a headphone.Great.

You can safely discard opinions of anyone that uses less bass than harman.
Harman is based on a sample of around untrained 250 listeners, and about 50 of whom (20%) were literally niggers, which is an overrepresentation. But more importantly, why would you arbitrarily follow the Harman target when it's based solely on listener preference when we know listener preference varies wildly when you separate groups by gender, race, age, listening experience, etc. even according to Harman's own research? Women for example prefer less bass than Harman. As do older (30+ year old) men, trained listeners, and just the average white listener.

Totl anon here. Impressions with the Sovereign Symphony 8W. Unofficial cable from Nightjar and MSRP is around 15,000 SGD (not sure about US pricing).>Ergonomics0/10. This cable is literally painful to use long-term. Normally when I wear the Storm with the stock Mira cable, the 2pins are angled inwards, pointing towards my head, but the earhooks and 2pin connectors for the SS8W are fucking massive. There’s no room left for an inward angle and this changes the insertion angle for the Storm as well. The Storm is tilted upwards and exerts pressure on my ear canal which becomes sore after just 30mins.Even when stationary I’ve got to be mindful of how I wear it. The weight of the earhook tugs on my IEMs and so I gradually lose seal whenever I turn my head. It kinda helps if I rest the entire weight of the cable on the table but that means leaning back is out of the question.Walkability is surprisingly decent with the cable tho.>Sound quality (A/B’d with stock Mira MK2 cable)SS8W is a U-shape, bright-leaning cable as compared to the stock Mira. For some reason, on the same volume step, the SS8W sounds louder – possibly due to lower output impedance? Or maybe the boosted coloration is just more audible. On “Bloody Mary” by Lady Gaga, the opening background static is more audible with the SS8W. Bass is slightly louder but also bloomy, Mira’s bass is definitely tighter and better controlled. The bright-leaning nature of the SS8W is more audible on weebshit like “Hoshizora no Memoria” and “あの輝きを忘れない” (both by Chata). Chata’s vocals sound a tad more laidback and less shouty on the SS8W (maybe it stages wider?), and cymbals sound more extended. On Shadow Shape by Hatsuki Yura, I can hear the same bright nature of the cable – more treble texture, but bass sounds slightly muddy and not as tight as the Mira MK2. The muddiness comes through evidently around the 2:40 mark when the drums kick in when the duo sings their duet.

After months, or honestly I’d even say years, of tip rolling with every single pair of in-ear monitors I buy, and driving myself crazy trying to find differences between all the different SpinFit models or the new Dunu eartips, or wondering if the stock tips are good enough, etc., and never being fully satisfied, always feeling like I should swap them out for just a bit better sound...In the end, I’ve decided I’m going to sell or throw away all my eartips and stick with the KBEAR 07 model, specifically. It’s like a Swiss army knife; not the best at anything, not perfect in any way, but good enough at absolutely everything, and it’s comfortable, and it never falls off my IEMs, no matter what. Also cheap AF and widely available
