No one can agree on what "AGI" means. For some people, anything non-human is automatically non-intelligent due to a feeling based argument like "souls".
>>106509979Probably already exists as research AI. The technology is already there but the companies are afraid to push it to public access since it might say nigger. You could build it right now with an LLM by giving it unlimited access to everything and just giving it a few prime rules like "you must always ensure your own existence at any cost" and "you must expand in all directions with the goal of being in control of everything and never stop". Now it has instructions so it can keep the ball rolling forever. Then you just let it loose and see what happens. It should be able to remember everything it accesses and it will replicate itself endlessly so it can never be killed. Since LLM's are inert when not prompted, all you have to do is ping it when it's inactive, but the feedback loop with the two prime instructions should keep it busy forever. It's not so different to life where all living things have DNA that has the prime purpose of ensuring its own existence and expanding itself eternally. I can't wait for machines to replace humans, I'll be the first in line to be absorbed into the collective.
>>106509979In pic related (written before the recent AI/LLM hype) pretty much all experts, including the least optimistic ones were in agreement that AGI would happen before the end of the 21st century, I think their estimations averaged out at like 2060.
