Why is it so much better?
Aesthetically there is an argument to be made, for sure. Usability, it only trumps Windows and Linux systems for the most braindead of users. If you want to do any actual computing work, Apple only throws roadblocks in your way.
>>106512848This. If you’re poor and lack basic expectations about how an OS works you should stay with Windows and/or Linux. Both are a pretty /g/ood celebration of mediocrity.
>>106512848>Apple only throws roadblocks in your waySuch as?
>>106512930I remember not being able to start the docker daemon without docker desktop
>>106511569>Why is it so much better?it all started here. yes, this is unironically the sole reason why it's so much better than winshit>>106512967brew install docker
brew install docker
>>106511569They integrated the GUI into BSD and hired Jordan Hubbard to do the integration. Any time a white person is building an OS it's already going to be better than jeetrosoft.>>106512848I'll ignore the fact that you're conflating the GUI with the actual OS because most retards do but yes it is annoying that apple built their system on BSD then locked out almost all the features that make BSD good.>>106512930They removed a lot of the tools that natively come with BSD.

What can you do with it if you’re not a programmer or editor/designer? All I can think of is web browsing.
>>106511569Because indains can't afford it>but sars, Android and AMD are great valuesI know I know, but I don't care!
>>106513008>Linux and Mach shown as a child of UNIXAre you retarded? Both of those are complete bullshit. The former, maybe you can make the argument it's what it was inspired by, but the latter, Mach has fucking nothing in common with UNIX, you have to be braindamaged to think Mach is a descendant of UNIX. XNU has partial components of BSD inside it (more and more removed now due to security concerns) but Mach has absolutely zero UNIX, BSD, or any of that faggotry inside it.>>106512967Docker is just a wrapper around Linux namespaces, which guess what, is a Linux feature. So you need Linux for it. What Docker desktop does, on *any* non-Linux OS, is pull down a Linux VM and run all containers in that.
>>106516105Also all Apple OS'es are a direct and complete descendant of NeXTSTEP. XNU was also the NeXTSTEP kernel. Whoever made this diagram is a retarded faggot.
Is this the new apple thread? I just got a JSAUX USB-C extension cable so I can connect my official Steam Deck dock to an M2 Max MBP and just move one cable over to have all my same peripherals on the MBP. It works, but I am occasionally getting a flash of rainbow static for a couple seconds. This did not happen when using a direct HDMI cable to the same monitor before, has not happened on the Deck using the same monitor and cable through its dock. Is it the extension cable? Why would it work fine most of the time? Also, notably I can still type text while the screen is rainbow static and when it goes back to normal I can see the text was typed, so it's not the whole dock's connection shitting out. None of the cables are loose.
>>106512967On Mac, use Orbstack for Docker.
>>106513008You forgot the section where NT was based on stolen code from DEC.
