This is the internet now.

It's either this or bots
>>
recently I realized that the entire point of 2FA is to collect more info (phone number etc.) from users
>>
>>106512300
But websites are still infested with bots?
>>
>>106512315
It's specially egregious when they don't let you configure it with use with an open source program like KeePassXC
>>
>>106512315
Not really, it really stops people from hacking into your account.
15 years ago, if you wanted to stalk someone or steal their nudes/stuff, all you had to do was search the leaks, chances are he/she would appear somewhere in there and chances are they would use the same password. No 2FA, so you would just log in.
Nowadays, even with the password and reuse, you couldn't log in, and even worse, the target would get a message on the phone that someone tried to log in and wasn't approved, so the target would change the password and maybe even file a report to the police.
2FA legitimately ended the era of "targeted individuals" by other individuals (stalkers, hackers, someone with a grudge)
>>
>>106512317
There are degrees of hell. Understand that whatever is appening now, there is always a way to make it worse, even if you can't imagine it.
>>
>>106512315
WOW OH MY GOD YOU FUCKING GENIUS
>>
>>106512315
Yes, it is. But a lot of the time it's not even 2FA, it's 1FA since you can reset password using only phone number.

>>106512350
>all you had to do was search the leaks
Websites cant secure their shit, so let's give them even more data to be "more secure". Great thinking. How about websites don't leak?
>2FA legitimately ended the era of "targeted individuals"
No, since it opened a new bigger security hole, now they don't need to find your password, just convince a telco to get your number or take your SIM.
>>
>>106512315
aside from doxxing, the point of many of these is to make sure that the barrier between someone else ("partners", government, the antichrist) and your data doesn't reside in your own brain in the form of a password, and is instead a file or something else that they own
the FBI-Apple shenanigan wouldn't have happened with passkeys and biometric slop
>>
>>106512401
>just convince a telco to get your number or take your SIM.
That requires having an inside man (impossible unless you are a mob or foreign intelligence), or meeting the target in person which is incredibly risky and a stalker obviously wouldn't do
>>
>>106512401
It wouldn't be a problem if 2FA more often used secure protocols like TOTP. Sadly this hasn't gained much adoption outside of businesses.
>>
>>106512300
Give me one good reason why we can't have a bot infested network, while just ignoring the bots by scrolling down and blocking known patterns. IMPOSSIBLE MODE: Try to explain without sounding mad.

nonsense
Google and Steam pinkie promissed they wouldn't store my phone number
>>
>>106512291
It's worst, there is usually a captcha not only after the 2fa code but also before.
And if you have javascript disabled by default, you must try fifteen times allowing more and more scripts from different domains until the fucking page works at last...
>>
>>106512300
the bots are run by the nsa to force people to use the nsa-run MITM network
>>
why would fednet let your post through if you hadn't been successfully fingerprinted?
>>

>"we are making sure you are a real human" t. cloudflare
>have to enable cookies
>have to wait 3 weeks to be able to post
>you can only start creating threads after you have "level 5" post activity
>every 48 hours new cloudflare check
>every time you post, cloudflare check and captcha verification
>email code verification but code never come
>2FA + cloudflare check for the third time
>only gmail allowed
>can't create gmail without other email address and phone number
>cloudflare check + age verification with passport and drivers license
>if you have some other browser than proprietary chromium based spyware, you are not allowed to even load the website
>hardware based play protect certificate drm kernel level rootkit running 24/7
>yes, FBI has to have moderators checking every message you wrote, yes FBI has to do this while they spam anti-FOSS propaganda and advertises proprietary Brave browser, latest macbooks and iPhones made in India
>>
>>106515204
lol the freetards have been entirely infiltrated you god damn moron. turns out that inserting an nsa agent into a open entry system is very easy!
>>
>>106512300
it's bots anyway faggot, this it to keep humans out.

>setup yahoo email 27 years ago, entered fake made up recovery email because fuck you, we had security question anyway.
>FF to now, they deleted the security questions and require the code from that fake email, cant get it, account is forever gone.

oh well, dont really need it but fuck off with this shit.
>>
>>106512350
If someone steals your phone, you'll completely lose access. 2FA is a scam.
