i wanna have a pc for the livingroom where i can watch movies through hdmi without screentearingdoes beelink work for this?how powerful does a computer need to be to just, enjoy some Monk season 1, or some seX-files?ive never bought a raspberri-like box before but i remember pretty much every laptop ever having screentearing on large livingroom flatscreens
>>106512939just get a fire stick and put kodi on it
>>106512997no
>>106512939I'd save the money and buy one of the lenovo thinkcentre minis. I used one for that purpose that had a 6th gen intel i5 and it worked fine. I wouldn't expect 4k out of it though. I just use a ps3 with an external drive that I put files on from my computer now.
>>106512939all those android tv boxes are shit and full of malware.a used mini pc for 100 quid is the only correct answer.
>>106512939My previous HTPC was a 4th gen i5. Streaming services worked fine but YouTube raised the CPU temp. DVDs playing from an external USB DVD drive sometimes skipped. It could not handle Bluetooth audio. My current HTPC is a Ryzen 7 1700X and it can do all of that while also running a Minecraft server.
Focus on something that can do GPU/hardware decoding more than CPU.
You want to make sure the computer supports: AV1 / H265 / H264. That's going to be 99% of content on sites. xvid is still around if you're watching shit from 30 years ago I guess. Kodi is your best bet for a proper 10ft ui. If you're using Android stremio is good. Beelinks are overkill for this, I wouldn't spend more than $120 on a mini pc for this and the good beelinks are 500-600>>106513162The Onn 4k is like $20 and you can set it up for noobs and forget about it. I've done it several times now, handles all the major codecs too. The only reason it's cheap though is because when you log in you have to use a google account and they try to steal all your info out of the box. If you could get rid of all the play store shit and just keep kodi + projectivy launcher it would be perfect
>>106512939in case your room is cold it also doubles as a heater, so I recommend it!
>>106512939Get those Walmart 4k Onn devices. Like $45, and it's android, so you can easily install a third party launcher and then debloat.
>>106512939Get a Galaxy Tab and connect to the TV through Smart View, for basic use it's way more versatile than a mini PC.
>>106512939>i remember pretty much every laptop ever having screentearing on large livingroom flatscreensHow long ago was that? I've never noticed tearing with any of my hardware that is 2016 or newer.
>>106515343you pirated and steam to tv from a pad...
Any old laptop will do don't be retarded.
>>106512939Any miniPC or NUC would be fine. Hell an Nvidia Shield Tube with external storage would.
>>106515980dont know what a "tube" isim not using ethernet either, i just wanted to run from local files, not some weird pirate "streaming" app
>>106512997poorfag detectedOP just needs N100 or better, AMD 780m is the sweet spot
>>106516338what even are those "sticks"sound retarded, an appl i-box or w/e for 200 fucking $ is why im asking, because the one in this livingroom only uses shitty apps that have nothing on them, its laggy and annoying and even the tiny ass remote costs like 90$ to replace, SCAMi thought about the beelinks because they come with preinstalled windows and you just plug any keyboard/mouse and youre golden. but apparently you want a 500$ beelink and not the 200$ one.im lost and i honestly dont care for gayass "app " boxes android or not
