All the good commercial software is at least 20 years old you can be certain you won't be hurting developers if you hit the archive.

It depends on the software, for predatory subscription models and invasive DRM by large corporations for example, sure pirate away. It's best not to give them a sale. But for software that offers lifetime subscriptions for a reasonable price then no you're either turd worlder, or just plain selfish.
A good example is Clip Studio offered for like 40 bucks and you get it for life vs Adobe Photoshop.
