>go to college for 4 years>do the bare minimum>dont learn anything outside of college>no git>no memory management>not a clue of assembly>expects a 6 figure salarywhy are cs students so retarded?
>>106520262That kid's thumb is pointing to Berlin
in our school people learned assembly and mips and no one could get a job
>>106520273my thumb can do that as well as the rest of my fingers.
>>106520284Can you get the tip of your dick into your ass?
>programski bit
>>106520262If you go to a top school, you'll learn all of that and more. My program covered operating systems, compilers, cryptography, algorithms, machine learning, and all of the requisite mathematics to go with it. In some electives I work with FPGAs. If you cannot get hired it's because you're actually stupid or you forgot to network with the professors and attend hiring days. The professor is the best pipeline though, setup all my summer interships too (PAID).
>>106520282you're missing the point.software dev is a cutthroat field and we need a high bar to keep it legit. too many retards, like those 3-month bootcamp Indians thinking they're coding gods, are flooding the space. that's how we end up with bloated 200GB video games that barely run.
>>106520282You didn't learn MIPS as a vocational study you retard, it's teaching fundamentals. You sound like the sort of person who needs a JS bootcamp. You go from the concepts in MIPS to picking up x86 on your own.>HUURRRRRR why be there no MIPS job!?
>>106520318No I think you're missing the point. Or lying.
>>106520318>>106520333Yes, technically you're both correct, in the sense that obviously no one uses MIPS. But you ask for assembly experience and you say "oh well not that assembly experience" the person says that ar his school is was basically impossible to find jobs and you assume he's indian. My school was the same way, and I am certainly not indian.
>>106520262CS = Computer Slop. That's the problem. The money is in the slop, and any retard can tap into it. They're just building garbage skills for a garbage job.
>>106520314This. We implemented a microprocessor on an FPGA with Vivado in a first year's mandatory course. This and especially math filter 99% of /g/ that's why no one here has success with their degree.
>>106520579you're just showing you dont get the point either. im not asking about assembly experience concretely or any experience at all, what im saying is that the problem relies on missing the deep understanding of what programming even is, how all this stuff works, going out of your way to learn stuff your college won't teach you but that is valuable. i mention assembly specifically because it's good to know what your code will translate to so u know why ur code is slop and how to fix it but it's a lot deeper than that.
>>106520262>programski jezik on book>Cyrillic script on sign aboveWhat is this, the Serbian equivalent of Interliber? The kid looks like he's autistic and a devout reddit user. It hurts to look at the image, disgusting.
Europe anon here. I cruised through CS barely doing shit while being top of the class. Shit was easier than highschool (personal opinion, classmates didn't agree). No personal projects, no hiring days, no networking with professors. I'm currently employed doing webshit, AI does 99% of my code I honestly may have forgotten how to code by myself. I wasn't taught git, wasn't taught architecture, wasn't taught much algos other than mergesort which I don't even remember anyways. Don't even get me started on math my worse classes were statistics and algebra which I almost fail because of playing vidya in class. So yeah I don't know shit but got a job so morale of the story is CS is a fun little 4 years to chill then you'll get employed if you network with a couple friends and manage to get shit done (doesn't really matter how)Currently omw to be a senior and project lead. Mind you this is the vast majority of what the "professionals" in the filed are. This is what you're competing against.
>>106520262>>106520680Wait a minute I thought it was Croatia because he's brown and jeet-looking? I didn't know Serbia was also getting jeets.
>>106520676I realize you're interested in candidates having a deeper understanding and that's a good thing, goodness knows I knew CS that wanted to skate by with the bare minimum, but what you're not understanding is that regardless of what you learn inside school and outside school, the bleak reality is that the job market, especially for entry developers, is in the toilet, literally, and they do go to college, to get jobs.
>>106520696just to add and as an answer to >>106520676The more of a life I get (relationships, house, car, etc, etc) and the more I work (stable job + juggling a couple of consulting gigs) the less I care about deeper understanding of shit. I just want to get shit done asap and forget about it during my free time.
>>106520704Yeah, we get them too here. Zagreb has the most of them, but smaller towns like mine are getting them as well. It makes no sense to me because we're barely getting by on our own.Every time I visit Zagreb there is an increase in the amount of trash on the streets, brown immigrants from Asia or Arab states, refugees and beggars. I swear, this country's falling apart before my eyes and it barely took ~30 years after the war to get to this point. Was it all for nothing? Now the kid, his facial expression isn't helping him to look better. It's hard to tell where he's from since his skin isn't very dark (pic was probably taken during the winter), yet he has an olive undertone. It's likely that he usually lives near the coast. The 2 different scripts on the image don't help too much either, you have Latin and Cyrillic in one place. It's most likely a book event in Bosnia, we don't use Cyrillic in Croatia. As you know, Bosnia has 3 main nationalities, so you would have to gather books in both Latin and Cyrillic in one place to appease everyone. This is my educated guess, so I don't guarantee anything. My country is small, yet its climate varies wildly. The continent is temperate and gets a fair amount of rain, the coast is sunny and then you have the mountains and highlands of Lika and Gorski Kotar that are very snowy in winter. You can expect skin tone to vary as well because of that. Dalmatians and Istrians often have darker skin, hair and eyes than people from Zagorje or Slavonia.
>>106520696yes, obviously the right contacts will always get you a job in any fucking place you want, how is that related to what im saying? people who are applying to jobs who don't have the contacts to just get plugged into a job where they don't do anything can either have a passion for development and therefore will thrive in learning stuff in and outside of college and be naturally cracked or just care about the money but put in the effort to learn their stuff. no one gives a fuck if ur passionate about code as long as ur good. so u have 3 paths: be passionate and get cracked, dont be passionated but still get cracked or have the right contacts. my issue is with people who are neither passionate nor cracked and just because they have a degree they think they'll get a 6 figure job or a job in general. why would anyone hire you in such a competitive field?
>>106520696What country in Europe, if I may?
>>106521055Spain
>>106521049Sure I just wanted to highlight you don't really need to have a passion or be cracked. Also that working on your social skills (if that's even possible which I do not know) is most likely to land you a job than grinding leetcode. Same goes for the gym, halo effect is real and looking jacked will make job hunting easier.
I just wish people would stop telling these retards that they won't get a good paying job without university, since they waste their time using 100% of their brainpower to just pass their subjects instead of actually exploring the workforce and finding where their actual passions lie.t. retard who spent so long at university only to discover that I loved doing Electrical work.
>>106521221also very true but some countries still suffer from a bias against people without university degrees so not necessarily true everywhere in the world.
>>106520262i am eating and genuinely got disgusted looking at this guy
