YouTube changed the algorithm and and it's ruining the LIVELIHOODS of millions

Just go back to sharing WMV files on your personal website made with Macromedia Dreamweaver, with higher quality videos available exclusively via our official ED2K server

should I even notice this "restricted" shit from within invidious / newpipe?
>>
again?
>>
>>106524524
That's most jobs these days.
>>
What is YouTube doing exactly?
>>
Is this about the same thing that Yahtzee and RLM were complaining about?
>>
Making videos on the internet should never have been a career to begin with.
YouTube was much higher quality when it was hobbyists doing it for fun instead of "content creators" on the daily grind.
>>
>>106524018
That's why I subscribe to channels with RSS. That and the fact that I don't have to log in.
The moment channels start suggesting their viewers use this work around will be the moment they redo YouTube to stop relying on RSS to work and it stops working for everyone.
>>
>>106524919
You can say this about any industry. You’re just mad you aren’t them. YouTubers have it easy
>>
>>106524886
I'd have to watch this guy's videos to be sure(like hell I'm gonna do that), but it could be. Anyone who had mature content with a lot of underage viewers who are now getting filtered could be affected by the three tier age restriction shuffle that was a direct response to the UK's Online Safety act and the EU equivalent.
>>
>>106523432
These dudes are all lying
Revenue isn't changing at all
So they are making even more money per view now more than ever
Stop complaining

I'm mad that kids today want to be youtubers rather than astronauts.
>>
>>106524630
Good for sharing but not for finding others' content, and I consume more than I produce.

This is undeniably true.
>>106524982
>You can say this about any industry.
Really? Any industry? Have a think before talking complete shite.
>>
>>106525140
thats because youre not making youtube videos teaching them to become astronauts
its the schools fault if you dont want to become a teacher you become one on youtube
pewdiepie is a good example of this, turning from a retard video gaymer to someone talking about actual hobbies
>>
>>106523897
Literally what’s the problem? The man found a niche and it worked out for a while and now it’s not. Happens to everybody eventually, unless you’re a doctor or electrician or something useful
>>
>>106525240
>>106524919
Much like the nature of art, when expression is the desired outcome it always contains better merits than when it's for capital.

>>
>>106525262
>>106525321
we dont have a problem, they do. we're laughing at them losing some shekels because their stuffs not being spread around for free as much anymore.
>>
>>106525140
Being a youtuber is more realistic than being an astronaut.
Maybe kids would want normal-ass jobs that benefit their community if they paid enough to live on.
>>
>>106524982
I will say it about creative industries.
Like composing/playing music, painting, etc.

But working in a factory is just work, you can't expect people to grind the conveyor belt for free.
>>
>>106525321
I don't. I used to browse YouTube every day from like 2007 to 2012 and found heaps of great stuff. Now I'll check it once in a while, see a bunch of slop promoted by the algorithm or commercial shit like movie trailers and rap music videos. I might click a few that look vaguely interesting only to get bored after about 30 seconds and close the browser. How anyone can still use that site baffles me.
>>
>>106525070
Because the moment they start thinking about money is the moment their channels turn to shit.

Scott Manley is someone who just quit his dayjob to become a fulltime YouTuber.
And I just know I will be unsubscribing him in a few months time as his videos will become stupid clickbait, shame because he used to make some interesting content.
>>
YouTube is now promoting Members Only videos and some channels are cashing in on that aspect, he is one of them, pic related
>>
To add to that, his channel doesn't have consistent views
>>
>>106524102
ArseWiperAU isn't Australian - he's from Sydney.
(those who know, know)
>>
>>106524607
Sure but if it can give me youtube resolution and length in uploads and be ad free I think that's more important.
>>
To be fair, there does seem to be a lot of algorithm fuckery going on, especially with this "restricted" mode.
>>
>>106525140
Maybe kids would be more interested in astronauts if we didn't fucking gut the space program and do nothing for 60 years in favor of throwing all that money at wars, welfare, and welfare (foreign) instead of colonization.
>>
>>106525596

If you called an abo an "aboo", he'd look at you funny for a second as he crashed trying to figure out what the fuck you were talking about.
Then his firmware watchdog would warm reboot his brain, and he'd start from defaults - bashing you and taking your wallet in the process.

Guy makes videos mainly about nuclear option, a plane game. They're short, I find them entertaining and I don't find the particular AI voice he uses to be grating. Probably not for everyone though.

I'm not one of thise guys that deny the past was better but in this case congent on youtube improved, if you get shitty content is because that's what you watch, you watch shit in a weird self-hate ritual
>>
>>106527822
most youtubers, even the ones who did decent stuff previously, turned into algofarming slop makers that promote energy drinks and shitty gatchas, discuss drama/fotm and shit like that, op pic is a perfect example. It most definitely didn't get better compared to even 5 years ago, there's like handful of channels left that are even worth considering watching.

I don't think being a YouTuber is very realistic at all. How many are actually successful enough at it to make a living? Being an astronaut is even harder but there are plenty of attainable high paying jobs that are less risky than a YouTube career. There are 1m doctors and 100k airline pilots in the US for example. Are there even 100k successful YouTubers?

Why do they even care what videos their ads are shown on anyway? Half of them are fucking scams and or work flow and grammar shit you can get for free anyway.

I actually got curious to see how bad it's gotten so I turned off uBlock temporarily and my goodness it's not just a meme, Google really has forsake any and all standards and will air even shit that are borderline porn ads even.

NOT MY HECKING ASTRONAUTERNINOS!

astronauts do fuck all and they've being doing it for decades. it's not the 60s anymore, where you got that faggot liberal bullshit from. the real issue is that it's still a small industry so there aren't many of them.

but you know what you gotta do to be an astronaut? spend years as a military pilot and then apply. that's what it takes dickhead. if they're not faggot iss crew members they're mainly ex-fighter jocks; those are the actual guys that do the flying and command the missions. back in the 60s they'd spend all their spare time driving too fast and fucking all the women they could, whether they were married or not. you're not telling kids to join the heckin' militarino are you my dude? you're not telling them to go fight for the man?
>>
>>106525870
>throwing all that money at wars
war was the motivation behind the space program to begin with and the whole thing was militarized from start to finish. teachers and diversity hires didn't even get a look in until the 80s. the space shuttle was the space shuttle because of the cia.

>love to see it
I'm fine with that being the fate of people whom have done nothing but spread petty drama an AIslop and other such useless garbage I do pity the plight of those who have actually provided good educational content just because they were passionate about it, Jewoogle refusing to give them a few shekels even though they bring YT views which means more ad revenue is a shitty thing to do.
But oh well nothing last for ever especially things companies that basically get handed over to India.

I've already moved onto greener pastures on Odysee, hopefully more of my favorite content creators follow along.

>>

>>
>>106524886
It is, but YT has already been getting less and less viable as a career post covid. They're a big channel, so if even they're complaining you know the pressure is on.

I will say that as much as I enjoyed RLM 10 years ago their content for the past 5+ years has clearly been less inspired and more focused on bloating the runtime of each video. That's most youtubers though.
>>
>>106523432
First they just promoted whatever got the most views.
Then they promoted daily 10 minute uploads.
Then they promoted 3 hour documentaries.
What now? How did they change it this time?
