Linux exploits:
>Usually discovered by a random autistic IT worker, and fixed in a day or two without any serious damage
Windblows exploits:
>Mostly discovered by black hats, sold in black markets, was probably a glowie backdoor and you had to wait until millions of computers got infected with ransomware so that mocroshit finally does something about it.
>>

That depends. What do you usually use your computer for?

I haven't seen one yet that affected the average user and didn't have to fulfill a fuckton of prerequisites to even happen.

only guilt or cope would illicit such a response. dude, we hear this specifically over on the linux side all the time and its never true there either.
btw my isp blocked traffic to 62.102.148.189 from my laptop that has LITERALLY no other installed software on it. for no reason im assuming.

Well, this question makes it apparent. Good luck to you, stranger. I hope you get many (You)s.

Windows runs everything, and has WSL if you want to work in a linux environment. The hacker culture no longer exists around linux, so what's the appeal? It's like running a bad version of windows. If you really just want to tinker with something, mess around with BSD.
>>
>>106524525
what a strange exchange.
>>
>>106523547
>Windows 11 or Linux?
Linux with a virtual Windows 10. Or a dual boot if you really need a real Windows. But fuck Windows 11, if you use it, you encourage Microsoft to go on with the enshitification.

No, I run Windows11 Pro, I'd pick this setup over any other operating system out there. With a Linux desktop, I'd immediately run into issues running multiple monitors with different resolutions and scaling. Wayland isn't even the answer either, as software I require does not work with it.

What realistically do I gain in the end? Given that I'm also throwing out lots of useful Windows only software.
>>
>>106524711
>Pro
lol
>>
>>106523547
There's definitely a learning curve to Linux, so the sooner you jump into it, the sooner you'll be comfortable. Windblows is just there and has a fuck ton of problems. My last machine on Windows decided to update (even though I manually turned off automatic updates) and bricked my SSD. Thankfully it was just a low end PC that I now use as my media server, but I'd be fucked if I had still been using it on other machines.

Every time you are making a retarded question this like, ask yourself what your friends or parents would do. Normal people would just install windows and get on with their day. Quit overthinking unimportant shit.

Do you have no life and enjoy problem solving with computers? If so pick Linux, if not Win 10 LTSC.

There is very little use case for bothering with Win 11 at this time.
>>
>>106524711
>Wayland isn't even the answer either, as software I require does not work with it.
At this point that's kind of like someone in 2003 saying they can't move from windows 9x because they need software that requires DOS.
On the one hand, if it's true then it's true and no amount of arguing will change that.
On the other hand, at some point you surely need accept that you need to find and migrate to software that does use new standards.

What software?

Also keep in mind that even software that "doesn't work with Wayland" will still actually run just fine thanks to Xwayland. The only issue would be that those windows will look a bit blurry. Like running old non-DPI-aware programs on Windows.
>>
>>106524572
ohhh hes pretending my "its not true" is refering to it being open source. it didnt even occur to me that somebody might intentionally missinterpret that. thats so silly.
>>

>The only issue would be that those windows will look a bit blurry.
Lol, and I should just put up with that.... because?
>>
>>106526525
You shouldn't, but you're also apparently insisting on using ancient broken software that can't scale properly.
I'm using Fedora 42 KDE with one monitor at 125% scale and another at 100%. So far all the software I've tried to use scales perfectly. What software are you using that doesn't?
>>
>>106525784
>What software?
Vivado (FPGA software). Unless something has changed within the past year, it only supports X11 on Linux. Now you're going to tell me "I don't need that", but that's ok, this isn't my first time interacting with freetards though.

Again I'll ask the question, what am I gaining by switching to desktop hobby OS?
>>
>>106526593
>ancient broken software
There's the linux cult in action.
