i pay 120 dollars a month for this
and i still doink you crossmap at 100 ping using a $40 mobile hotspot
>>106523624i retired from gaming, but i was top fragging at 130 ping back when my internet was 90s teir broadband
>>106523617I pay $20 for this.
>>106523617$150 + tax>>106523659that's crazy cheap
I pay $85 for this
>>106523659>$20/month>ChileIt's not worth it unless you're Chilean.
op here i decided to switch to a cheaper plan. 85 dollars a month
>>106524194I pay $81 for this
>>106524245different ISP I assume?Comcast isn't known for their fiber.>>106524251Before or after taxes/fees?
>>106524259That's including 20% VAT (£60 GBP)
35€ for this.
>>106524259>different ISP I assume?yes i just got it installed. the speed isn't even the best part for me. comcast is jewish with their 1.2tb monthly bandwidth limit which i was overdrafting every month. this new isp seems based. no limits, and they even have no rules against self-hosting websites
>>106524298>comcast is jewish with their 1.2tb monthly bandwidthThat limit doesn't even exist here, Comcast only implemented that in areas where they had a monopoly. In my area where they've been competing with Verizon for ~15-20 years they never introduced a data limit. >>106524279Not bad, I'm a dual citizen and have been debating moving to the UK, but the internet availability outside of london has been shit for years which kept me from seriously considering a move.
>>106524314>but the internet availability outside of london has been shit for years which kept me from seriously considering a move.Rural Yorkshire gets 10Gb. My area in England just launched 5Gb
>>106524327Honestly my current job is 90% work from home, if i can get them to let me do 100% work from home, and be okay with the time zone difference, I can likely afford the move.
>>106524336All I'd say is keep an eye on the news on 13th September. There's going to be some huge marches against the gov
>>106524314>Comcast only implemented that in areas where they had a monopolyyeah probably. they were too slow to put fiber down so looks like the new ISP will slowly squeeze them out
6.82$ a month
>>106524343I currently live just outside of washington DC, i'm used to marches against the government.
>>106524285>8Gb service>boxes limited to 2.5Gbps on Ethernetlol
>>106524347>yeah probably. they were too slow to put fiber down so looks like the new ISP will slowly squeeze them outYeah it was fairly obvious around me back when they implemented the data cap in some areas because for Virginia, they specifically made it so "southern Virginia" was data capped, but northern Virginia (where verizon had a large presence) didn't have any data caps. So yeah, it was obvious they were only doing it for areas that had no other good options for internet.
>>106524376It's my network card that's limited to 2.5GB/s. The router supports 10GB/s ethernet.
>>106524397no it doesn't, it has 1 10Gb SFP port for LAN.why do you lie, frog?
>>106524383apparently they are removing it? https://www.pcmag.com/news/comcasts-new-plans-dump-the-data-caps they already had plans that included unlimited data if you rented their routers. i don't know if this is any different
>>106524429>>106524397I mean, if you only have a single client device a single 10Gb SFP+ is fine. And a 10Gbps switch isn't TOO bad if you needed more ports. >>106524448Wouldn't shock me, either remove it or increase the limit to ~10TB or something.I've been averaging 15-20TB/month ever since I got 2gig service.
>>106524429They give a 10GB/s adaptor on demand that you plug in the SFP port to get 10GB/s ethernet. You could just plug a switch to it that can do 10GB/s on all its ethernet ports.
>>106524481I mean, SFP+ to 10GbE modules are like $20-60 depending if they're name brand or chinkshit. So not really a big surprise.
If you're paying more than a dollar per gigabit, you're getting ripped off.
>>106524191OWO!!! nummy nummy me want!
is it normal for this modem thingy to say it has a 10 gig connection even though my internet plan is only 1 gig? i dont think i have an ethernet cable that can go faster than 1 gig so i cant test if it actually goes that high
>>106524626do you cancel your plan each time you reach 30 days?
>>106524671That's likely just the link rate negotiated between your ONT (modem) and the ISP OLT. Has nothing to do with the speeds you pay for.My ONT also does this even though I only pay for 2gbps.
>>106523617They robbing you, fäm
>>106524746how do i hack the system to make it match the link speed?
>>106524812That IS the link speed. It's linked to the OLT at 10gbps, your service is only 1Gbps, which is why you see that.If the ONT allows you to specifically set the WAN link speed to 1gbps you could probably do that, but it would be pointless.
>>106524822no i mean to hack my internet plan
>>106524626i love when amerimutts with 2010 tier speeds larp as if they're from first world countries
>>106524871Lol noThe OLT is likely authenticating through the ONT and your ONT is tied to your ISP's speed tier, and it's all handled on the ISPs side of things, so even if you told your ONT to somehow ask for 10gbps, the OLT still wouldn't give it to you.
I pay $190/mo for the PRIVILEGE of getting this (and no cap). I unironically am seriously happy with this compared to the $150/mo+overages+tip for sub 200/5 capped shit I was *forced because of monopoly coverage* to pay Comcast when I lived in Oregon's capital city.Realistically this is closer to like ~300/11 with ~200 ping when connecting to a server down south. But its still so much better than Comcast god I fucking hate Comcast and fucking hate the monopolies they lobby to enable
$30/month Verizon FiOS in jew york. It's 55 70 90 for 500mb 1gb and 2gb respectively but I don't think it's worth it.
>>106524881it really sucks to see how little its changed. like this is "top tier" cable here and like i said in the last thread a fiber company is advertising 300mbps as an upgrade. it actually made me angry.ignore the portland part im actually 300 miles away from there.
>>106524981sad. they gave me a 10 gig modem but 1 gig is the highest internet plan. anyways, this thing seems to have its own dhcp server which puts my router onto a new address and i dont like it. does switching the modem to bridge mode fix it so the router is the main server now?
I pay $35/month for this. 2TB data used this month, they don't care
>>106525212>2TBthat's kind low, that's like 20 games
>>106524298they just removed that in my area once they upgraded all the lines here. now we get 200+mbps upload and 2gbps down 0 limits. definiitely still shit tier but im not longer concerned about my bandwidth limits
>>106525043>1000/10>not even 1000/100cuckold.
>>106525323>I don't understand how overhead worksGMS
Best I can get where I live is 2Gbps for $75/month, unlimited.
I fucking hate comcast. I jumped ship to fiber as soon as it was available. They are still doing sketchy shit like they are currently running a promo where 1 gig internet (and 40mb up kek) and a included mobile line is $65/month for 5 years and after 5 years it jumps to $110. Fuck comcast, they'll get their comeuppance soon.
>>106525323If they actually had fiber and it wasn't just a marketing lie that they offer it, I'd switch in a heartbeat
>>106525331what the fuck are you talking about retard nigger?overhead has nothing to do with being cucked into upload speed being 1% of download
The best internet for my area (single family home) is 8 Gigabits for $165/month
>>106525363even on fttc docsis or gfast theres no excuse for 100:1 ratio like that thoughi thought we were cucked enough with 10:1 on actual real fttp from major isps (holdover from docsis/gfast)
>>106525043pretty good considering you live in a wasteland
testing only to nearest major city is basically worthlessI pay £22/month ($30 USD) with static ipv4 and no ipv6.
All of you faggots complaining meanwhile whatever the Orange plan for 4 sim cards (one with a 931gb cap) costs gives me this on a desktop USB modem.
>>106525636there are posters on here that have a sub 1mbps connection
>>106525550which is why i tested to London, which is over 100 miles away: >>106524251
>>106523617If you spend your money on things you want, it's not a waste. Good for you OP, enjoy your purchase (not even being sarcastic).
>>106526485Unironically this
>>106526463wow! 100 miles to the major capital city where your isps backhaul probably goesgood job!
