Recently got a new phone released this year and I'm shocked at how many options there is (android 15), even photos I take with camera have my location embedded in the metadata, location is also on all the time (for the find your device if it's stolen bullshit)All of this is concerning, what are the must do things when getting a new phone regarding privacy? I don't feel safe.
Step 1: Install LineageOS
>>106525584It is very simple: The more you use internet based services, the bigger your (potential) digital footprint becomes. There is no technical solution for this, this is the bitter truth. You can waste your money on VPNs, tinker with customROMs use a "privacy browser". But as soon you use services on the internet you are generating data which can be harvested.
>>106525584GrapheneOS + RethinkDNS with filterlists + very careful app selection

>>106525679>>106525736i heard custom roms break banking apps is it truei also like my phone's UI and don't wanna switch to a basic boring one sorry that's the hard truth>>106525732true but is there even a phone out there that's not constantly connected to the internet? and maybe not vpns but block lists which i guess is kinda the same thing as a vpn but not really, are those dns options good? >>106525736hmm ill try the dns thanks anon, seems like the best option so far
>>106525584Don't use one.
>>106525584i hate security faggotsi hate privacy faggotsi hate technology i am done with this shit
>>106525584Best practice: not have one.Second best practice: have one but turned off.
>>106527589>>106527688you guys are fucking annoying, you're like the christcucks in /his/ thread who say dumb shit just to cope with their pedophilic religion say something useful or don't >>106527590i care about privacy because im scared one day jewgle goes 1984 and they trace all the porn i download to my name and ruin my life, am i dumb?
If privacy is a concern, you have to let go of convenience. Don't use apps that take your personal data, use the web browser. Pay with cash, strip your phone of Apple and Google services. Disable camera and microphone access.
You cannot own a smartphone and be privateThere is zero way to get around this.In fact owning a cell phone is the same in general. You cannot avoid this problem other than not carrying cellular devices with you.And even WiFi devices can be pinged.
>>106525584Don't install 50 different apps to do everything you can do in one browser.Quit wasting your money and putting your email and phone number in fast food apps, doordash and uber. You don't need to play gachas. You don't need to post 1k images to social media(s).You don't need to stream music when you can build and have your own library to go through.

>>106528327Fucking newfag
>>106528073You don't need to post furry porn.
>>106527976>Christcucks>pedophilic religionSpotted another 12 year old
>>106527537>i heard custom roms break banking apps is it trueI'm not certain but I believe two things can do this:- unlocked bootloader- rooted device
>>106527976>one daynobody tell him
>>106528040>And even WiFi devices can be pinged.pretty sure location services on modern laptops uses wifi and taps into a huge database of precisely where those wifi connections are, it's over
I think it's been cut and dry for a while. Compartmentalize as much of your data as possible, use as many foss apps as you can, minimize exposure by minimizing app presence on the device, use a rom that is degoogled and gives rigorous permission titles toggles, didn't associate any login information with your device of possible, learn opsec ect. There are probably thousands of videos on this subject so we don't need a thread for this.
>>106527976Get this through your thick skull and severely underdeveloped prefrontal cortex. You cannot have privacy with a mobile phone, let alone a smartphone. They constantly phone home and ping cellular towers. If you want privacy, ACTUAL privacy, the simplest, and only, solution that you are too knuckle-headed monkey-fuck to understand is to simply not use one.
>>106525679Step 1: Install GrapheneOSFTFY
