Mass utilization of AVX-512 will be death of the i5 2500K
>>106528996>AVX-512abandoned jeetware
2500k has been dead for years
Instruction sets can be emulated. Not efficiently, but they can be, and could be a workaround for any possible future arbitrary checks (like browsers for example). The i5 2500k is immortal. I even picked up another one just now for $8 on ebay.
nobody actually uses one still. you are falling for pranks again.
>>106529892>nobody actually uses one stillWhy would you ever upgrade? It works perfectly fine.
>>106528996i can still run Linux reasonably well on my AMD Phenom II X6most programs aren't even using AVX2 instructions yet
>>106529898yes yes anon. we both know you dont tho.
>>106528996Kek. Everything except a handful of games run on myy i5 650.Even AVX hasn't seen mass adoption in 15 years, just 5-6 years before the patents expire. Why do you think AVX-512 has a chance, especially when intel dropped it entirely?
>>106528996That's x86_64 v4. v3 (AVX2 support) will be enough to kill it off. Red Hat already implements it, MS will follow since officially they require a TPM for Win11 and models with TPM and without AVX2 are very rare.
>>106530023RHEL and upstream and downstream distros are not all of Linux
>>106528996There is over 13B devices in use that have only H264 hardware acceleration available. Youtube, torrent sites etc. will serve h264 forever.
