ukrainian is such an ugly dialect, the latin "i" does not belong with other cyrillic letters
>>
>>106531363
it's just works, until you need to add new packages that are not available as flatpaks (or not designed to work as such), or cannot be used from containers without feeling too restricted. or if you need to change something about the os/kernel itself. or interface with a hardware in a way how it's not expected at the lower level. in other words, it doesn't work for desktops.
>>
>>106531392
The Cyrillic letter I / i goes back to the origin of the Slavic scripts in the 9th century, dumb zigger.

yes, and?
I use NixOS at work and on my VPS.
Maybe if bazz chuds would make their distro declarative, I would switch.

that's the problem - they think getting rid of the post-soviet state of mind and widespread corruption means becoming "european" (which is one of the ways yes).
>>
>>106531639
you press button and receive a full blown OS. that's it. no bullshit tinkertranny cope you will forget a few years later. it's all encoded in your derivation, or it isn't and you're retarded.

unlike yaml soup garbage like ansible, nix is actually a functional language (both in the literal sense and plt sense).
>>
>>106531726
can you name a generation with a custom name and mark it against the gc, to have a consistent stable point of return? when i tried it a couple of years ago, i hated how it linearly relies on the snapshots by their recency, which is rather pointless.
>>
>>106531772
you need to add it as a root in your gc
https://nix.dev/manual/nix/2.18/package-management/garbage-collector-roots

why though? if it's version controlled, worse case you can literally just check it out and rebuild it, no?
>>
>>106531805
>why though?
i had a problem where my system became unexpectedly unstable due to my own fuckery and all the available generations had the exact same issue. i couldn't even rebuild, but boot. a clean reinstall from an older commit fixed that, but the issue was reproducible from the newer config commits.
>>
>>106531726
you cant use the t word if you use nix lol

Said nobody ever, the most progressive in terms of new tech adaptation linux distro like Fedora's own devs say Linux on the desktop is not ready to be used and breaks all the time, atomic distros should be the future (keyword FUTURE, not CURRENT) but they aren't ready yet either because flatpaks are broken half the time, poorly maintained, don't get security updates for libs that ship with them, and most aren't verified or approved of by original devs (example all browsers saying flatpak is broken because it breaks sandboxing and has other performance issues, steam saying you should use official deb instead of third party packaging)

No it doesn't, it's shit. The closest to just werks distro is Ubuntu LTS, it could be Fedora because it's even easier to use with one software app if they weren't autistic and didn't ship vanilla GNOME with no dock or minimize/maximize buttons and no codecs or hardware accelerated proprietary stuff in the distro. Mint is a meme distro managed by 2 people that has no security advisories, is stretched thin and can't even make cinnamon work with basic stuff like wayland and is now a ugly frankenstein mess because they're incorporating new GNOME stuff while most of the cinnamon UI is old gnome when they forked away. The moment clement dies the distro is dead, nobody uses it except non-technical old people who can't contribute, and it fully relies on Ubuntu servers and devs to go, yet isn't even compatible with Ubuntu since it's cinnamon based and most of it's apps are from cinnamon team and rely on Clement himself to do everything, and have stripped away snaps that Ubuntu is massively turning to and slowly converting the entire system into

I'm not the one obsessed with the background of my distro or its contributors, unlike you
also lisp is boomer trash and you're retarded. nix (the language) heems lisp easily.

background of your distro? that shit is at its forefront and shoved into your face. sure, no one cares if a dev is a fag
but what about when they start kicking people for not being aligned with their views?
but what if they start shoving it into your face their "pride"?
what if they change the fucking logo into it?
when do you say enough is enough?

no immutability

very shitty package management (um windows store is LE BAD even though it's how every Linux distro basically does it!)
a lot of very hard questions are shipped off onto you to manage, all the utilities and command lines in windows are wildly insufficient for even basic usage.
>>
>>106532323
>lisp weenie is a shit-no-one-cares about enthusiast
many such cases.
it's 2025 gramps, you don't need to write out shitty ASTs by hand anymore. We have structured programming.
I wish I could find that old paper that just outright btfo's lisp cucks comparing it against Miranda
>>

You are very stupid my friend
>>
>>106531459
>or cannot be used from containers without feeling too restricted
There are none outside of kernel drivers since toolbox mounts everything (including namespaces). For drivers yes but if there is a genuine driver you need to manually install that is not nvidia then you have other issues (every ublue image has an -nvidia version that ships with nvidia)
>>

Appimage works perfectly fine. Distrobox can be used to install your other packages. rpm-ostree can be used as a last resort.
>>
>>106532281
>>just use unreadable lisp slop

this stops being a problem once you actually become a programmer
>>
>>106534164
and yet no one actually cares about lisp but a select few weenies clinging to their shitty "no syntax" language. reminder Lisp was just the AST for M-Expressions.
