In comparison to other ways to launch Windows Apps in Linux, it's supposed to be the one-stop solution for all non-gaming software.

Their goal is all the same anyway: "Get people away from the Stained Glass towards where the Penguins live.

Have you used it? If so, what's your verdict?

Why are loonix tards so obsessed with running windows on linux. lmao

>"In comparison to other ways to launch Windows Apps"
Have linuxoids tried launching Windows apps in, say, Windows? Linux, much like a tranny, tries so hard to be something else and fails spectacularly.

>>

>inb4 it's just some RDP bullshit on a Windows Server
why?
>>
>>106537938
Looking Glass is the best way to achieve this, but you need to have 2 GPUs to run it.
>>
>>106538216
This.
No one cares, we only want things like Office, Power BI, VS and etc to work.
Gaming on Linux is extremely well on games that are not malware-like.
>>
>>106538169
thats the only way they can get something done on their computers.
>>
>>106537938
Its literally just Windows running in a VM (qemu), and steaming the application (windows) to the host in an attempt to be "native" and "transparent".
Its VMware Workstation seamless mode
>>
>>106538169
There is value in creating an open-source replacement for the Windows APIs, which are obtusely made on purpose to keep people locked into Windows.
>>
>>106537938
>Running in a VM

Defeats the purpose.
>>
>>106538546
NTA, I agree with you but thats not at all what this is

do you mean "in contrast to" ?
>>
>Linuxtrannies think that Windows is too slow and has too much bloatware, so they just run Windows in a virtual machine and use hacky electronjeet shitware to cut the program's window out of Windows and put it in Linux
amazing how far they will go to claim they're still a Linux user even though nothing works on linux and they need to literally run windows on linux to get anything done
>>
>>106538516
you mean freetard cope #3242253253543?
>>
>>106538608
No, since seemless mode was ripped out of VMware Workstation about 5 years ago so it would be nice to see a replacement for the functionality. I'm just pointing out that its nothing actually new or special. People are treating this like it's a new way to run Windows, or that it's wine, when its neither.
>>
>>106538216
It's actually a virtual machine lol
>WinBoat is an Electron app which allows you to run Windows apps on Linux using a containerized approach. Windows runs as a VM inside a Docker container, we communicate with it using the WinBoat Guest Server to retrieve data we need from Windows. For compositing applications as native OS-level windows, we use FreeRDP together with Windows's RemoteApp protocol.
>>
>>106539077
My boyfriend is right, software development is completely cancerous now.
>>
>>106538638
but it's NOT seamless mode it's another buggy COPE
>>
>>106539368
Of course its not, because its not VMware Workstation you retard. Its just the closest analog to compare with.
You're trying way too hard.
>>
>>106539382
no it's a COPE you don't even get gpu acceleration unless you buy TWO
>>
>>106539457
Anon, its target is for desktop apps, like Office, not for games. And of course it doesn't have GPU acceleration, it runs in qemu. Are you fucking stupid?
>>
More like WinBloat
>>
>>106537938
buy an ad
>>
>>106537938
I just want to do all of this shit from the command line, install and manage multiple versions of wine and set environments i can launch some apps from. A virtual machine is annoying and overkill. Also
>windows 11
Defeats the point, W11 runs like shit on VMs.
>>
>>106539485
QEMU can hardware accelerate Windows guest but the process is annoying as fuck and requires two discrete GPUs (though an igpu + card combo works). You can thank Nvidia for that.
>>
>>106539485
>more coping
lol
>>
>>106537938
>packages up the hard work of others
>designs a logo
>>
>>106537938
I literally just add windows programs to steam as a non-steam "game" and run them through proton.
I wish the sumatra pdf guy would port his shit to Linux already
