What the fuck is Thread ?

An entire new networking protocol ? Really ?Can some one give a QRD on thread ?

>>106539834Low power networking standard for all kinds of IoT bullshit. HOWEVER, remember what happened with USB-C.
It's for Matter which will allow smart devices from different ecosystems to work with each other. Before you'd have things that only work with Alexa, Google home, HomeKit, etc. and if you only had an Alexa but bought a HomeKit smart device, you couldn't really use it. Matter makes it so that all of them can communicate and work with each other
>>106539786Probably this.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread_(network_protocol)>Often used as a transport for Matterhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matter_(standard)>technical standard for smart home and IoT (Internet of Things) devices.>though the ability to commission a finished product into a Matter network in the field mandates certification and membership fees,] entailing both one-time, recurring, and per-product costs. This is enforced using a public key infrastructure (PKI) and so-called device attestation certificates.Sounds like a money grab to me.

>>106539770i think we can already hook everything up through wifi.wifi 6 allows very low rate speeds to avoid burning out microcontroller batteries. set up a pairing protocol over i2C with some 3-pad connector on the router and we're golden.
Why don't they just make the standard open so anyone can use it? Oh wait then they can't make even more money
does this affect me if i don't have any home appliances that connect to the internet?
I assumed it had something to do with the milimeter waves but I guess it's just some bullshit that should be over wifi
>>106540046>he doesn't know
>>106540166WIFI is too complex and draws too much power. also suffers trough wallsthis is for chips that fit into lightbulbs or switches and don't make them expensive. at a lower frequency
