i only remember this because i was looking into uis in rust, is this implemented in rust and is it any good? specifically for desktop apps and websites, my understanding is that it was built for embedded?

while it's implemented in rust and integrates with rust well, slint uses its own language for the gui itself. it also uses (or used) QT for the desktop target(s), which makes this thread funny. lol.
it was never meant to be a pure rust gui experience, like e.g. iced.
their embedded target (no QT) does indeed have a good reputation. and it's probably their best niche, and how they are making money, if they are making money.

Long compile times make slint useless. It has a lot of good ideas but I am not going to wait 3-5s for basic hello world. Does it even have hot reload yet? Also terrible defaults much like qml.
