I generally like it. Most of the problems I've run into are due to it being Wayland based, which means fucking around with compatibility flags and shit all the time. Never have been able to get Obsidian to run well because Hyprland really REALLY wants it to be in a floating window blocking everything. After fiddling with a bunch of settings and finally being able to force Obsidian into a normal window, the mouse input was all fucked up and it refused to use more than about a 1/3rd of the window. Apparently Electron apps and Wayland hate each other, with Hyprland just making things worse. Avoid Electron apps and things go much smoother.

Hyprland is effectively xorg+picom+tiling wm combined. If you wanted to make your own tiling wm for wayland you would use hyprland as a base and use whatever moronic logic you wanted to assemble windows with. There will never be a dwm style 1k line of code project because everything has to be build up from scratch, there is no xorg base to work with that does all the heavy lifting.
