>>106548685Whichever one you are more comfortable with. If you're okay with stable distros like Debian then use that, if you're fine with Arch and know how to manage it properly, it's also good. And so on, and so on. Some distros are 100% memes though.

>>106548685Guix. It's like NixOS but even better as it uses Lisp.
>>106549088How long will it take a retard like me to learn it if I don't know Lisp, Emacs, etc? I like the concept and it's not as shilled as Nixos which means it doesn't need to.
>>106549088>no drivers>>106548685nixos with flakes.
>>106548685the endgame is realizing it doesn't matter and just using arch or debian
>>106548685Debian, Fedora or Arch usually
>>106548685Windows 11
Arch is easy as fuck. All distros are the same everything else is window management and theming.
>>106548685puppy linux
archinstall with KDE. no ricing. it just works.
>>106548685Mint with Cinnamon. Of all "it just werks" it werks the justest.
>>106548685The endgame is to be distro agnostic based on use case. In the end though, GNU Hurd and microkernel architecture is the ultimate endgame.
>>106552314Gnu Hurd truly is the end-game, we just have to wait until a couple of years before the heat death of the universe for it to be usable.
>>106552328Kek. Indeed.
Ultramarine Linux
>>106548685Guix or Debian, or Guix in Debian.
>>106548685Arch. I have 0 desire to use or even really try anything else.
>>106548685Gentoo or LFS. No need to hop when you do it yourself.
>>106548685Usually MacOS
Windows
No need to bother with other distros
OpenBSDBut not on my T400, it's slow and power hungry, fucked my battery.
>>106549855I use NixOS and I use flakes.. but flakes are such a total fucking disaster.

>>106549832Guile is an easy language to learn if you already know a language like Python or Ruby. It's the Nix-like tooling and concepts that can take a while. The choice between Nix and Guix is largely about whether you prefer to write a custom language or use a preexisting language that can also be used for other things.

i tried to copy my docker container volumes with a simple volume/* command onto an external ssd, and it quickly ballooned up to 20 times the size of the file. it was putting something into a binary file. anyone know why?

>>106548685"Distrohopping" is for unemployed people with too much free time they need to fill somehow. So, one of the flavours of LTS Ubuntu or Fedora Workstation, depending on user needs.
