Why is Windows 7 largely considered the best Windows version?
4channelers were 13 in 2007
mostly because it was the last version of windows that came out before windows 8 and the zeitgeist never really recovered from windows 8. but don't be fooled, 7 was much worse than xp or 2000.
>>106551539Trvthnuked
>>106551539Actually i was 20 in 2007t. 2007 newfag
>>106551537The majority of people are stupid.
64 bit software. It's the first modern windows in terms of software support. Pretty much any modern software you use to today, like OBS, was made for windows 7 originally.
xp64 was the sweet spot, supported up to 128GB ram (unlike 4GB of regular xp and pre-xp)more bloated than pre-xp but less bloated than 7
>>106551613This is peak retroomer, nobody actually used XP x64 and those that did know it didn't fucking work.
>>106551537Because Windows 7 had the best launch parties, many accidents were drunkenly conceived at them
Not yet completely infested with spyware. Though I'd say that 2000 was the last that wasn't actively hostile towards the user. XP started the activation bullshit and WGA nagware crap.
>>106551537>source: my assAnyway, hardware that can run Windows7 natively is aging, lads.
>>106551831wrong image
>>106551537it's not windows 7 itself, it was era that came along with it. Most apps you use today were first developed and perfected on 7. It was the start of golden age.>>106551605this>>106551613boomer ahh
>>106551539i can use windows 7 today, right next to windows 11, and compare how shit it has become since then.
>>106551537People were desperate after Vista sucked ass and XP was virus hell.
>>106551537Look at what came after it.Windows 8 was a weird touch first UIWindows 9 did not existWindows 10 flat shit and telemetryWindows 11 flat shit, even more telemetry, performance and stability issues
>>106551893>Windows 11 flat shitdoes flatshit just mean "stuff i don't like" now?
>>106551905No, flat design has a definition and Windows 11 meets that definition. No idea why you're suggesting otherwise. You might as well question if the sun rises in the east.
>>106551537Windows 7 is garbage. Windows 2000 is peak, and it started going downhill after that. Windows 7 only looks good in comparison to the horrors that came after.
>>106551918that's nothing remotely resembling flat dude. true flatshit died around 2011, and windows 11 has transparency effects and shadows turned on by default. also, rounded corners can't be flatshit.
>>106551537It fixed most of the stability and compatibility issues of the earlier versions while retaining the parts of the UX design that people liked. Also before all of the telemetry and aggressive update crap.
>>106551605XP came in a 64 bit flavor. So did Vista.
Windows 7 is my favorite, W8 is only better because some programs still get updates for it, not MS security updates, but stuff like VMware which is a springboard to everything else. You have to hunt down older versions of VMware to run it on W7, it's been out of support for years, but even Steam still works with W7. If you have an old computer with more than 16GB of RAM then you can pretty much throw anything you want in a VM for practical use. You can reinstall the OS/VM infinite times when a program expires.
>>106551537the CEO was still white when it was made
>>106551654>more bloated than pre-xp but less bloated than 7very true. i tested it in the past. barely fucking worked. no wonder no one ever use them.
>>106551918>1366 x 768Why does this resolution still exist among modern laptops? Just why? Bloody asinine that there are people out there who still get screens like this given to them at their jobs or whatever. 1080p minimum is too hard for manufacturers to stick to or what? There can't be much of a cost difference these days, too. Or at least 1680 x 1050 as the minimum, sheesh.
>>106551537it looks like shitosx was better
>>106551831Not by too much. AM5 CPUs can run natively, NVMe drives are fully supported, and the most powerful GPUs with official driver support are the RX 6950xt and the RTX 3090ti.
>>106551537first major release that finally figured out decent 64bit support (inb4 2003 troon), and last one that wasnt kiked to hell.
>>106553259>first major release that finally figured out decent 64bit supportwrong, Vista was the one,
>>106551537Because of baby duck syndrome.
>>106551989xp came in two 64bit flavours actually
>>106551595fpwp
>>106551537It was basically the 64 bit version of XP. It was the culmination of all the good things Microsoft ever did. Naturally it had to be all downhill from there.
>>106553502>It was basically the 64 bit version of XP.64bit xp was the 64bit version of xp
>>106551893>booboo win8 was weirdFixed in a single program. Windows 8.0 is the best Windows edition ever made. It's the only one that can run on worse machines than it's predecessor. It had no bloat yet, and all the quality of life was amazing to have. The task manager is a useless piece of crap on win7, but on w8 it worked and made the experience 10 times better. There's no reason to use w7 when w8.0 exists.
>>106551537it didn't have the forced automatic updates that you cant disable without jumping through hoops
wddm finally got good with 7.
>>106551537Most recent version made with desktop users in mind, before the shift to squeezing the user for all they're worth.Basically, it was the last version that actually did what an OS was supposed to do.
Mental illness from tying their identity to what was new and current when they were young and general retardation from being unable to use anything newer than that. Win7fags are truly miserable and pathetic.
>>106551989Yeah but WoW64 was utter dog shit before Windows 7
>>106551989I've never seen 64 bit XP in wild. Only its server counterpart.
>>106555627xp x64 edition came out in 2005, vista in 2006. few home users in 2005-2006 even had 4G of ram, so no, you didn't find it on home computers simply because those people didn't have a use for it. there was also naturally downsides to switching early on as well, given that you needed 64bit drivers and software compatibility wasn't identical, so only those who /really/ needed it used it. even many vista home computers shipped with 32bit versions, things only started to come 64bit by default around the 7 era (of prebuilt home user computers), but not because 7 did 64bit any better really, rather that it was simply more mature (more drivers, compatible software), and a use for it (computers shipping with 4G+ ram ootb)
>>106555627>>106555807--oh and even upgrades were hardly an option, because amd64 consumer cpus themselves were still brand new, you couldn't have bought an x64 cpu before the end of 2003 even if you wanted to, because they didn't exist, you'd have to have had a dedicated reason to have used xp x64 in 2005/2006
>>106555831i suppose they could have used xp x64 after vista came out, but if you've got that much of a beast of a computer, why not vista?
>>106551537Because Windows 8 had a shit UI and Windows 10 introduced a bunch of spyware and made the UI even worse. Windows 11 is just Windows 10 with slightly more spyware and a better UI.
>>106556098>Windows 11 is just Windows 10 with slightly more spyware and a better UI>a better UIu wot
>>106553541>touch shittery>metro shittery>ms store shittery>best windowsNo lmao
>>106556287It unironically is. Windows 10 UI was just someone using the fill tool in paint for making elements. It was entirely composed of black and white rectangles, which is ugly as shit. Windows 11 has shading and transparency. It's much more enjoyable to the eye.
>>106551537Compared to Vista and everything after 7, yes, but it's garbage compared to 2000 or XP.

>>106551537>the best Windows versionthat's like asking what's the best type of rectal cancer
>>106551893> telemetryNo telemetry in win 7? Bwahahaa…You haven’t looked through your scheduled tasks have you?
>>106558652Zoomers don't care about anything but gui's not looking flat.
>>106551537because just works
>>106558652you can disable it easily, why are you so mad about win7? mmm...
>>106559360Win7 can be successfully sanitized, unlike anything that came out afterwards, but it's pretty pozzed out of the box. If anybody's a glowie, that would be people deliberately ignoring this fact.
>>106551537>Why is Windows 7 largely considered the best Windows version? It's not; Windows 2000 on its final Service Pack is the best Windows version.
>>106553502>It was basically the 64 bit version of XPThat was literally a reskinned server 2003. which is what Vista was built upon laterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxmZPMg7vIs
