iphone 17 air is a move to test if we like usb-c removed for proprietary connectors for even thinner phones. that's their main evil reason behind the curtain. why can't anon see it?
well, they make the top notch products, so why share their tech with others?
>>106555927good morning sar
>>106555927A phone is only top notch if it's durable and enables me to install whatever the fuck I want on it + a decent camera + micro sd slot and all this for a price tag which doesn't isults my intelligence for max $300, since it's going to die some grussome death anyways like most of my past phones.iShit meets any of the above ?No = garbageYes = iBuy it for $200
>>106555908who needs cables? I use a charging station for my iphone 16
>>106555908Normal people: micro USB -> USB-CCrapple: 30 pin -> Lightning -> USB-C -> this new shit
>>106555981Your idea for a top notch phone blows.
The iPad has something called a Smart Connector to connect accessories, like keyboards and other stuff. I wouldn’t be surprised if they move on to something like that if the iPhone is going to be super thin.
The art of paying more for less and making the shortcommings seem life features is crazy.Wonder how easy this will bend if some slut puts it in her back pocket and sits down.I don't even get how they can release new models every year, who the hell replaces their phone every year ?I'm still using an S20 and don't feel the need to replace it for at least a few more years.
>>106556062Older iPads had them on the side of the device.
>>106556049>zoomer spotted
>>106555908It's a step towards a future foldable phone. If they can make a phone ludicrously thin and it holds up well, they can make one that doesn't turn into a brick when folded.
>>106556071>who the hell replaces their phone every year ?it's not always the same people buying one...One of the buyers might have a 5 year old phone and they'll buy the new one. Someone else might have a 3 year old phone and doesn't feel the need to upgrade yet, but next year they'll upgrade to next year's model...
>>106555908they will probably remove it completely and once they can go to GHz range for wireless power via induction they will have data transfer as well. Fixes the alignment problem as well and you can keep like ~10cm between pad and device. I give it 5 years.
>>106555908they gonna make the last 10% of the phone as thin as display with zero things behind so they can melt down about "why we forced to use thick usb-c on our phones this goes against innovation and shit"
>>106555908>buy super thin phone>put it in thick rubber armor
>>106555981Bad news about the only real alternatives…
>>106556224This is the meme
>>106556100>foldable phoneno one asked for this
>>106556220exactly
>>106555908If they'd do anything they'd switch to wireless charging only, due to EU rules.
>>106555927yeah they make the biggest notch in existence
>>106555908anon, they'll just remove itlike they did with the headphone jack
>>106556241>>106556220This would suck for gamers wouldn't it? They'd have to take breaks while their phone charges, have multiple phones to play on while one is charging, or use some sort of charging extension which I'm not sure is a thing.
>>106556231If it means going back to 4 inch sized phones, I asked. But realistically, they are just gonna make 6 inch phones that open up to 12 inches.
>>106556049>durable, with a decent camera>>NO I DON'T WANT THAT!at least try to be subtle
>>106556231I'm on a foldable phone right nowyes that means I'm phoneposting (at work, where I make money to fuck around half the day), what are you going to do about it faggot
>>106556100They already had a foldable phone. It was called iphone 6.
>>106556231my parents love their folds. very easy to read the paper of messages or maps when unfolded
>>106555981>durable and enables me to install whatever the fuck I want on it + a decent camera + micro sd slot and all this for a price tag which doesn't isults my intelligence for max $300And then everyone stood up and clapped.
>>106556231elite theory. people's opinions don't affect the product. it's the reverse
>>106556231>no one asked for thisDoesn't matter. Samsung and Google are doing it. Apple will do it too. Of course, they'll do it way later than everyone else, and claim they are innovating.
>>106556071wait until you find out that they make a new version of each car every year! and new houses! they just keep building them! who are they for?!? I already have one!
>we want to keep making the mini but customers are too retarded
>>106556328a 3”x3” phone that’s only .5” thick and folds open to twice that and half that respectively without an extremely fragile screen or hinge would be great
>>106555908i doubt they'd remove it from the pros, they're leaning too hard into them being pro cameras and no-one's transferring log footage by wifi
>>106555908Didn't Europe tell them to pound sand with those proprietary connectors?
>>106555927>top notchi see what you did there
>>106556100>foldableOld hat. Apple invented this with the iPhone 6.
>>106555908>iphone 17 airiphone 17 air is 16 years away. we are at the first iphone air.
>>106555908I don't want any connectors. I charge with Qi2. The port is just a hole filled with lint.
>>106556062I wonder if this could be integrated in the same connection as MagSafe, so that MagSafe could be used for both charging and data.
>>106555908if it still has speaker grills and they remove usb-c I'm not buying iteither make the whole thing smooth all around and implement the speaker behind the screen or keep the existing design
what about muh european union which mandates that you use inferior and obsolete tech?
I don't want thinner phones. I want an inch thick phone with a replaceable battery that I could use as a weapon and 4 to 8 USB C 80GBps connectors.
>>106558678Tech companies set the standard, not the EU.All the EU mandates is that there has to be a single standard compatible with all devices. It's the same with almost everything the EU does because it's a trade organization not a real government.
>>106555908I don't doubt it, thankfully I only use budget smartphones which take years to follow these awful trends from the flagships.
>>106559245Image source?I keep seeing it all over this board.
>>106558731>Tech companies set the standard, not the EU.EU does mandate that all battery-pack powered products newly entering the market as of 2025 have user-replacable stock off-the-shelf available battery packs and as of 2027 ALL such products have such batteries. And there is no way in hell the ultra-thin fad that Apple is panicking to revive to come up with something new and trendy in the hope to mask the fact that they're at an evolutionary dead-end, allows for conveniently user-replacable batteries.
>>106555908>test if we like usb-c removedthey're testing it by not doing it?
>>106560602retard.
>>106555908They aren't allowed to introduce a proprietary connector because of EU regulations mandating the industry use a standardized connector, which they've decided is USB-C.However, they are probably allowed to remove the connector since the iPhone also supports qi charging.
>>106557913removing the speaker grill will probably never happen. they'd have to make the screen itself vibrate which would mean no more stereo.but that'd be the kind of brave innovation I'd expect from Apple of the Jobs days desu.
>>106556100>pic
>>106556023Unironically this. 99% of people only use a cable for charging, which can be done without a cable now. The 1% of autists who "need" fast data transfer can just go buy a Wifi 7 access point and stop inconveniencing the rest of us.
>>106555981This is the correct answer
