>change battery in my phone ($15)>get a new case ($15)>its like I bought my phone brand new again
>>106555951This post is very antisemitic
Very few people do that because of "must have new thing with New Things ™", but yeah, it's based. Samsung asked for $60 for swapping the batteries of my friend's S20 FE. I thought that was great given how expensive eletronics are around here and the S20 is a hell of a smartphone.
>>106555951>$15 for a batteryHow ?Where ?FUCKING HOW, ANON ?and what about security updates ?
>>106555951i tried this with my dead pixel 5 and an aliexpress battery but it bricked after a week. then I bought a $50 google battery and it bricked after two weeks...
>>106556001phones are not secure
>>106556020If you did that long enough you would've solved one of our civilization's greatest obstacle, anonShameful surrender
>>106556021More secure than standard desktop linux distro like ubuntu
>>106556025i thought it was just googles evil updates for forced obsolescence but the second time i put lineage os on it and it still died
>>106556026lol no
>>106555951cool it with the antisemitism OP
>>106556028>cluelesslol yes.Everything on android is run in it's own sandbox while on fucking linux all applications can access eachother's resources and even keylog or spy on your screen without ANY restrictions.Data access controllsAndroid : standard container permissionsLinux : what restrictiins ?
>>106556048Usecase for no global keybinds?
>>106556048believing that an OS made by google is more secure than linux is delusional
>>106556085Because it is ?(But only when it comes to protecting you from the apps, not protecting you from google)
>>106555951What phone do you have?
>>106556106
>>106556028>>106556048You are fucking retarded. Sanboxing things in Linux is trivial while in phones you depend on app manufacturers well intentions and lots of the apps you probably use are proprietary.
>>106556001I bought my Google Pixel 4 battery for $15.

>>106555951I felt this exact thing when I changed the case (which I bought with the phone and never used before) and replaced the screen protector.Brand new phone. I only wish I had factory-reset it for the full experience.Battery still going strong THOUGH
>>106556469i have a 4a and thinking about doing the samearen't those replacement batteries dogshit? i might do it
>>106556526No its worth it. My last battery had 300mah capacity before I replaced it with a stock 2800mah battery. It can finally last through a whole day now instead of 2 and a half hours without using it.
>>106557431i'd have to check mine but i've only had bad experience with 3rd party battery replacements especially in laptops, any recommended brands?
>>106555951Serious question how are you changing your battery for $15? All the replacements I find are way more expensive*and* I have to deal with opening the phone too. Man I miss open back phones so much, this glue shit blows.
Don’t forget >putting a new screen protector on ($3)if the previous one has bubbles or any small cracks.
>>106555951>replace screen protector>turn brightness up to 100%brand new phone
>>106555984Very few people do it because they're told they can't. And the few that dig deeper than that don't want to risk breaking their phone.
>>106555951based fellow fairphone user
>>106556526It's worth it if you have a Lishen battery. If you have an Amperex battery, it's probably not worth it. Keep in mind that replacing the battery in the 4a is a pain in the ass. You have to remove the screen in order to access the screws, and it's really fragile, so there is a good chance of cracking it if you're not careful. If you get a new battery, make sure that you get one made by Sunwoda Electronic. They are the OEM that makes the original Pixel 4a batteries.
>>106558448i found original one for like $25-$35, tad much since i paid $200 for the phone a few years ago (4a 5g) i'll have to back up some datai could also get a kit from ifixit but with shippiing it's like $55i'm worried about hairdrying it to melt the gluemine is at like 65% which is abysmal
>>106555951It's why I like cases and screen protectors, despite the most obvious reason which is protecting my smartphone... it makes it fresh when you switch them up.
