I'm reinstalling Windows 11 for reasons. Anyway, I was using PeaZip, but it has bad integration (drag and drop on explorer window often doesn't work). I don't remember why I ended up going for it... I think there was some vulnerability with 7-zip or something.Anyway, what do you guys use? I just want a FOSS GUI that works well in Windows for decompressing downloads.
Just use cracked WinRAR you moron
>>1065567217zip
7z
>>106556721the vulnerability was fixed so just use 7zip
>>106556721>I think there was some vulnerability with 7-zip or something. Was massively overblown and fixed right away. Only existed briefly and was never seen in the wild before it was reported.7-zip is the gold standard, people shitposting about old news shouldn't sway your decision.
>>106556732>Best FOSS archiver for windowsCan you show us the source code for WinRAR retard?
huhi never realised that was what the icon was meant to represent
>>106557966https://github.com/pmachapman/unrarThe source code is available. It's not FLOSS because you can't use it to reverse engineer their compression algorithm. And there's no real alternative to the unfree unrar when it comes to unpacking rars. The FLOSS unrar only works for ancient rars.
>>106558011That's not WinRAR. That's not FLOSS as you wrote. That's not even an archiver (only can extract files).Again, OP asked for>Best FOSS archiver for windowsAnd that retard replied "cRaCkEd WiNrAR huuuuuuh"
I guess 7-zip it is. Thank you for being so helpful. I half expected to be swarmed with insults over dumb questions.
>>106556721No real 7zip alternative. There is also NanaZip which is supposedly a "modernized" 7zip fork, but I couldn't even get it running on my system
>>106558897>>106558967The Windows version of 7zip is not FOSS since it includes the non-free unrar.
