Computing Endgame.

>>106557085Yeah if you slurp semen.
>>106557085why do you need a keyboard when you can just talk into it ideally you'd have eye sensors as well for mouse control. probably want some form of glasses for the display
>>106557106Why glasses when you can neural render directly to your visual cortex? Further, why directly to visual cortex instead of tapping into the brain and injecting programmed sequences of neuron firings to "know kungfu" directly in the consciousness?
>>106557085Ok imagine this:A laptop, but instead of a motherboard with computer parts, you have a docking slot where you plug in your phone and the laptop runs off that. Probably still want a separate battery since I'm not sure how a phone battery would fare with a larger laptop screen.
>>106557085I already use one of these with my chromebook, it works very well.
>>106557143This already exists since the start of past decade
>>106557085This is perfection, for my world on the web revolves around three pillars: 4chan, YouTube, and Wikipedia, the ideal setup in its purest form.
computing endgame
>>106557085does it have desktop mode?
>>106557389No, only screen mirroring.>>106557307>makes women's pussy drier than Atacama Desert
>>106557485>makes women's pussy drier than Atacama Desertskill issue. my woman has the same one as me
I've been kvetching about how inefficient software has become (landian self-perpetuating demand cycle to fuel hardware gainz to accomplish singularity) and when I bought a macbook air and realized I could emulate current-gen games with maybe a 25w power draw, I teared up a little bit.
>>106557485>makes women's pussy drier than Atacama DesertLiterally impressed multiple girls in my class with my thinkpad shut the fuck up
>>106557283y it flopped tho??
>>106557816I think price was a factor, the laptop dock cost almost the same as an entry-level x86 laptop
>>106557816>>106557890I'm pretty sure if Apple released something like this at the price of the cheapest Macbooks, iToddlers would buy it in droves and hail it as the most revolutionary thing since the iPhone tho.
>>106557598Yeah I'm sure you did.
>>106557495>my woman has the same one as meHe will never be a woman
>>106558138she's a woman (female (biological (XX chromosomes (has a womb (and ovaries))))). but I'm not surprised you don't know what that is or that you've never seen one before
>>106557085iPhone/iPad ecossystem's where it's at for me.
>>106557975>iToddlers would buy some stupid shit that I likeyou use velcro shoes, don't you?
>>106557095What now?>>106557816Cumbersome. Price. Locked into particular phone/dock setups; users could only buy certain devices, Motorola unable to easily explore other form factors.>>106557975Apple does have some patents where iPhones dock in place of a trackpad, iPads as notebook screens, and Macbooks that dock into iMac style screens. A throwback of sorts to the Powerbook Duo. But they know well enough what kind of design lock-in it would create for them.At most they did release a keyboard dock for the original iPad. but it's useless for anything outside of the 3 iPads with the 30-pin connector.
Almost everything Apple makes is solely for media-consuming cattle.
>>106557085I don't think the base iPhone supports that.
>>106557085>need to take a shit>disconnect your "computer" from your monitor messing up all the open windows>return after shitting>have to start over and set everything up againI wish it worked, but I don't want my phone tethered to my desk.
When will we get a 4080 in this form? All of the adapters currently on sale relies on the CPU, I dont think any of them offer any real hardware acceleration.
>>106557816I actually owned an Atrix and the lapdock. It was hot fucking garbage to actually use. Instead of just giving you android but larger and with a WM, it booted you into a custom Linux distro any time you docked it. It then also mirrored your phone in a little window so it was essentially running android and Linux at the same time. The phone was not powerful enough to do this. It was a laggy, stuttering mess. I wanted to like it, the lapdock itself felt super premium in-hand and the concept was solid but in practice it was unusably bad.On the flipside, being able to carry a microHDMI cable and just have it seamlessly plug n play mirror to basically any screen was perhaps the most convenient screen mirroring setup I've ever used.
>donglewrong, you get yourself a monitor with thunderbolt and plug it all there. Only one cables gets to penetrate your computer
My pinephone came with something like this and I can't get it to work
>>106557085when I'm bored at work, I use Samsung Dex with a spare dock at work to remote back to my home computer so I can shitpostit's pretty shit for anything else though
>>106557085what keyboard is that
>>106560170https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Premier-Multi-Device-Wireless-Keyboard/dp/B08WNWS3HS
>>106559155this but the exact opposite
>>106557085So you're going to do your work on a low-rez screen mirror of the phone in portrait mode on a landscape LCD? That's going to be fun. What's the mouse for? Iphones don't support that.Basically, you're a retard, anon.
>>106560143iToddlers are still in denial that phones with USB-C ports are good.Yeah Samsung has had Dex for many years now but this whole being able to just connect your phone to other devices is new and a bit scary for them. And Apple probably doesn't even follow the USB-C alternate mode standard so they would actually need a dongle - face saved.
>>106560534Is that how it works? With Samsung Dex you can either mirror the phone screen (handy for app developers but otherwise useless) or use the phone as a track pad while the OS switches to the screen's native aspect ratio and shows a desktop environment rather than the Android layout.
>>106557085The perfect phone>As powerful as a desktop>All applications run in desktop or phone screen sizes, dynamically resizes elements (gnome does this currently)>Automatically arranges windows when going between docked and undocked>Home server backs up all configs. Lose your phone? Dock the new one at home and the server automatically restores it
I can now doomscroll in a totally retarded aspect ration, truly the future of computing.
>>106559137That already exists though. For how small it is, it'd beg the question as to why you'd plug your phone in to that. Even if you could let the computer utilize the phone's processor power, it'd be too minor to make a difference and wouldn't be necessary for what a miniPC is supposed to do: be a compact low power unit for basic tasks. What benefit would letting the phone's processor even do, run a youtube stream better?
>>106559424>Instead of just giving you android but larger and with a WM,That's how I thought it worked>it booted you into a custom Linux distro any time you docked it. It then also mirrored your phone in a little window so it was essentially running android and Linux at the same time. The phone was not powerful enough to do this.So the lapdock was basically a low-end ARM Linux shitbox, that probably didn't even actually need the phone to run? That's probably part of the reason why it was so expensive.
>>106560703Wait, Ubuntu Touch as an actual desktop mode?
>>106560883Yeshttps://www.ubuntu-touch.io/
>>106560617what do you need all that for? phones are toys for toddlers apple or not. I tried to edit an excel sheet couple days ago and making formulas takes 100x the time. Enjoy your gacha games on your superior phone
>>106557089>2017let it go bruh
>>106559190By base do you mean 16e? iphone 16 & 17 base models absolutely support 4k HDR video out.
>>106559309Why do you take your phone with you to the commode?
>>106560534All rubbish & worng. 1. All iphones with the exception of 16e support 4k HDR out.2. When the iphone is in landscape mode, so is the output.3. All iphones support mouse input. Why lie?
>>106561698people have always brought magazines, journals, etc. phones are just the next evolution

>>106557085My 8th grade English teacher called this in like 2007 which was low key impressive in retrospect
>>106562127When the original iPhone was introduced it was noted that the OS shared foundations with OSX. So the idea of it (or any smartphone,) becoming the basis of a personal computer (if even netbook grade,) is a natural thought progression.
>>106557085>overheats in few seconds of gaming
>>106559137>microsoft display dockOnly shortcoming of this device is that it requires a separate Usb C power source.
