THANK YOU DOCTOR FANG BIAN
To the hifiman hater: I'll pay you for your R10 clone. Whittle or plastic mold some cups and stick in drivers from donor headphones. I've already seen your charts, printed them out and wiped my butt with them after eating greasest mexican food known the man. Now it's your turn.
First for Endgame
>>106567512>releases great planars like HE 6>company gets popular since it's cheaper than Audeze>starts releasing treble rape distortion cannons insteadWhat the fuck was his problem?
>>106568159The HE-6 is infamous for frying weak amps
>>106568330At least it sounded good which is more than what can be said for their newer models like Arya. Stuff based on their older designs like HE400SE is pretty good, though, sound wise. Build quality is the same old $2 chinesium.
>>106567601GraphGOD here, those are too shitty even for free. Best regards.
>>106567512I hacve been using HD600s as my main headphone for years now. Id like to get a 2nd pair for my office, but i see that the HD58X and HD6XX are $200 dollars currently and are basically the same thing as the HD600s. Which one should i get?
>>1065709616XX is a HD650, 58X has different drivers iirc
>>106571031thank you, for $200 bucks ill see what the HD650s are like.
For me, it’s Stax
Kino SOON
>>106572938which cans are these? Tell me about them.
>>106573346chink closed backs #1273
>>106573346FIIO FT13, its an upgraded FT1 i think, although nowhere near the same value.https://www.fiio.com/ft13
>>106573346Just get HE-R9s for $53
>>106568159Is it worth $300 after coupons?
>>106573803seems pretty desperate >sounds better because... we use different wood>cables different. The sound flows better through it>its comfier, except the pads were already great. I guess some people complained about the headband not being soft enoughIts probably not bad value but still, kinda cringe.
>>106574019Ignoring the lackluster build quality, yeah it is. Superior to the regular HE6 as far as distortion goes and the frequency response is decent as well. You need a pretty powerful desktop amplifier for those, however. 1370 mv for 94 dB, even more if you plan to EQ. Still a far superior headphone to all their Arya derivatives.
Can someone help me find out an European brand alternative to Koss Porta Pro? It doesn't matter if it's of a bit less quality and is of a gaming brand like Logitech, Trust etc. but of course would be better if it's something like Sennheiser or AKG.
>>106574124The cable is bs (although it looks great) but its a new driver, and the whole thing looks better built, which was my main issue with the FT1. Waiting for reviews before i try it, but i got high hopes.
>>106528972>>106529029>>106529111>>106529168I'm sorry what are y'all doing? Using RF connectors for 20kHz max audio? You know that literally none of the problems RF connectors and cables are designed to solve exist at these low frequencies? And as you say, these connectors are not designed for more than 5 insertion cycles.
Hey anon, what’s listening?
>>106572938
>>106574151If you need the Porta Pro form factor I think your only other option left today is to buy a second hand Sennheiser PX-100
>>106575046I want something similar, I just want really light headphones with decent quality and don't want to buy second hand.
If you could get a closed-back headphone that sounded open, would you?Because by jingo, the Aune SR7000 is an amazing headphone. Used to love me HD6XX (still do) but after hearing good sub bass, it's really very difficult to go back to bass lacking cans.
>>106575102people just buy >>106574961for closed back with bass
>>106575102>If you could get a closed-back headphone that sounded open, would you?I already have themDCA NoireX.
Any reccs for closed-ear studio monitors around $200-300? I'm looking for a flat, middle-of-the-road response specifically for mastering music.I have a pair of ATH-M50X's right now, they aren't bad but they have a strong mid-bass meaning the music I master with them will come out sounding anemic to everyone else.
For me, it’s Sennheiser
Ordered k702, hope bass distortion is not TOO bad. I'll also try the high pass trick.
>>106576110How much?
Had a pair of Brainwavz HM5's for years now, but they are falling apart. What could be a good replacement? Budget around €150-200....
>>106576426>closed backFiiO FT1, ATH M50x>open backHD560s, HD6XX, maybe FT1 Pro if you really want a planarRemember to EQ.
Portable DAC/AMPs for HD600?
>add a 7.5 shelf at 105db>all subbass issues disappearSo these are basically the endgame of headphones then?
Any decent cheap chinese headphone DAC/amps or just amps? I don't want to pay for Schiit
>>106576987No. Adding a bass shelf big enough to make these Harman compliant will cause them to distort. Any low distortion planar is the endgame of headphones once properly EQ'd. >>106576993FiiO K11 is less than $150 and is decent. Just don't get the R2R version, that one uses a chip that's worse than 40 year old DACs, since R2R is an inferior chip type.
>>106577027>distortionCan't hear it and it sounds good to me.
>>106577038Understandable, enjoy your headphones.
>>106577038>can't hear itthat's normalnothing better anyway, you either compromise on sound or build quality
>>106574124>sounds better because... we use different woodThis is a real thing anon. The Fostex TH-X00 had 3 different wood options and they all sounded different from each other
Thoughts on the new Yammy cans announcement?
>>106579458they cant make headphones
>>106576993TA-66 is on amazon under $200
https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Beach-Airlite-Gaming-Headset-Console/dp/B0F1R6JH6MAre these a good deal? Sound good?
stop buying headphones and start making them.
>>106580061I'll probably build myself a Capra Ouroboros pretty soon because that ring radiator driver + passive center radiator setup is different and I like stuff that's different.
>>106579720>Sound good?Absolutely not. Just get KSC75 or some IEMs at that price point, honestly. Or something used.
Just got my Noire X's today>pic very related
>>106575155Are the closed back Noire X better than the Noire XO?
Give me a fancy DAC that has a nice spectrum analyzer or VU meter. I'm a sucker for those.
>>106572938Tapping into the old Fostex market with that design (minus the shitty hinges LOL)
>>106580482No. Noire X has a treble peak between 4 and 5k some people are bothered by, you can see that in some reviews. Drivers are basically the same since resonances are in the same spots on both. XO has the benefit of the frequency response being less variable and fit dependent due to its open nature. Unless you actually want headphones with more treble than Harman, in which case, yeah probably.>>106576987Qudelix 5K provided you use the balanced output. 240mW per channel should be more than enough to drive them at 94+ dB SPL. Comes with bluetooth also if you need that sort of thing. FiiO BTR7 is quite good as well.
>>106580589I'm retarded, meant to reply to >>106576728
Audio-Technica Ath-M20X any good?im poor student
Anyone use the Topping DX5 II? Seems like its most recent firmware fixed the issues it had/was having. Seems pretty good function and performance wise for the price as a desktop headphones unit. Bonus for me is the built in EQ and being able to run my monitors through it as well.
>>106581511It's alright. I'd rather get a SHP9500 if you can find it for cheap. For the most economical choice, chinkshit IEM FOTM sloppa is unbeatable, though.
>>106575102>If you could get a closed-back headphone that sounded open, would you?I did. The DCA Noire X are exactly this. They sound as open as my DT1990 Pro (before EQ) but much more detailled.
>>106581541No, I have the Topping DX3 Pro+ instead which seems a far lesser deal now.I won't be upgrading because it still does what I need it to do (mainly provide Bluetooth to my wired headphones) but if I were buying today I would go for the DX5 II instead.
there's a pair of headphones i want to buy, but there are some reviews online saying it sounds "underwhelming"but these are neutral-sounding phones and those reviewers were coming from headphones that have a more colored, v-shaped response curveare they just stupid? or do i trust them?
>>106575102>If you could get a closed-back headphone that sounded open, would you?No, because I mostly use open backs to keep my ears cool.IMO comfort is the most important thing with headphones, more important than sound quality.
>>106582169Most headphone "reviewers" are full of shit. If they don't provide any measurements and just say "well it sounds bad to me" I wouldn't trust them.
>>106582169If it'sZ ReviewsHeadphones.com (Resolve and that fucking massive FAGGOT Listener)Josh ValourDMSIwii reviews or whatever the fuckSoundnewsWave Theory (Avoid this cumstain at all costs)Then it means nothing. Look at graphs and the opinions of people who actually own it rather than shills.
>>106580589The FiiO BTR7 sounds interesting, as I would rather avoid 2.5mm output. What about small DAC/Amps without battery like thr Moondrop Dawn Pro? Would the balance output from it be powerful enough?
>>106583225If they don't provide any measurements and just say "well it sounds bad to me" I would trust them with my life. Chartfags burn in Hell.
>>106580243Enjoying them?
Daily reminder that charlatans who post sine waves can't actually hear their jaypeg file that they post.
>>106583270Zweeb was good when he was making sound demos for every headphone.
>>106574362is it a new driver though, I think it's the same

>>106583314>What about small DAC/Amps without battery like thr Moondrop Dawn Pro? Would the balance output from it be powerful enough?Dawn Pro only outputs 120 mW at 32 ohms which might not be enough for HD600. Try FiiO KA13 instead, according to the manufacturer it outputs 170 mW at 32 ohms per channel, so that's 340 mW total. No need to use balanced with more noise that way. And you still have more headroom just in case since the balanced outputs over 1W at 32 ohms.

What are some good waterproof earbuds (IPX5+) that produce good enough sound quality and are also less than like $50 or around that price range?
>>106583365I have those to thank for finding out about Carpenter Brut, and pulling the trigger on my Fidelio L2s back in the day.

what wireless headset has good audio?i aint no audiophile
>>106583937>headsetAudeze Maxwell
why is the m50x so praised?i got it 10 years ago because everyone said its the best headphone for the price but i never found it anything special still use it because its comfortable but it sounds like a 5 bucks samsung phone headset
azury's sounds so lash
the legendssounds so premium and genuine
>>106583962Because at the time it was one of the cheapest over-the-ear headphones with a detachable cable it also sounded alright and didn't break the bank.
>>106583820https://www.jlab.com/pages/go-pop-ancI use these
>>106583953>340 euroidc man anything cheaper? like i said i am not a audiophile so i probably wont even here whats special about it
>>106583962have you tried it on different devices in case its a shitty on-board sound card? i have a pair and it's far from perfect but also way better than any 5 dollar headsetmy complaints about it are all build quality not sound quality
>>106583988>at the timei watched demon hunter yesterday. before the credits they showed scenes of the singer in the studiothey all still wore that headphone
i don't understand why would anyone pay more than 999 dollars to closed backs? hd620s is endgame close backs
>>106583780>has more amp puke than cansyou're the people of trash
>>106583997then set a budget.
why would anyone pay more thank 999 dollarinos for headphones when azurys and hd620s is all you ever want?
>>106584005yes i have it since 10 years dude
beautiful, not overpriced masterpieces
>>106584040max 200 i thinkit just needs to be wirless, decent sound heavier on the bass and comfortable. i got the jbl 610 and i liked the sound but it gives me headach after 5 minutes
>>106584079what makes open back better? also model nigger
>>106584107depends on the open back, if open back is truly open like adx5000 then you can hear women moan better
>>106584098also i need wirless via usb stick not bluethoot
>>106584098Logitech G PRO X 2 is $230 (~200 euro)
>>106584107you get a better sense of of speciality. Closed backs and especially IEMS feel very boxed in and sound just like you're hearing left-right directly in front of your ears.
>>106583962Because it's decently comfortable and has low distortion. Frequency response is not terrible either. If it doesn't sound good enough for you just EQ, it's literally free improvement. >>106583997Corsair Virtuoso Wireless or HyperX Cloud Alpha wireless. Though a used Maxwell would still probably be miles better than those.>>106584012Better build quality, lower distortion, better tuning etc. HD620s is limited by bass distortion like most DD headphones.
>>106584124>3000 buckslmao what for? they dont even use something like this for professonals
>>106584170>HyperX Cloud Alpha wireless.it is my top chose right now but also read bad things about itis alpha the best? they have way to many models i dont get the difference cloud 3, 3s, stinger, alpha, alpha 2
>>106584170THAHAWAHAHA NO ONE CARES ABOUT BASS DISTORSION EVEN 99 DOLLAR CANS CAN DISTORT LESS BUY BEATS YOU FUCKING IDIOTcans need to distort to sound unique>>106584183true professional use them
>>106584211i like the song they produced for the show so its decent enough :)
>>106584202Alpha is the best tuning wise but Cloud 2 are decent as well since they're basically copies of Takstar studio headphones albeit with worse tuning. "Bad things" is probably QC and build quality since after the acqusition HyperX has gone to shit. That's why their newer models (Cloud 3, Alpha 2) sound worse than the older ones.
>>106584236but reviews on amazon say cloud has low bass
>>106584236Cloud 2 got a revision after HP bought them too, they removed the brushed texture on the sliders, the metal plates on the cups, the rubberized coating on all the parts, the embroidered logo on the headband, and most importantly removed all the acoustic tuning material from inside the cups and replaced the metal driver grille with a plastic one which completely fucked up the sound.
>>106584287Both of these have a fuckton of bass. Alpha has more which is why I said the tuning would probably be better for you. I can understand why someone used to nigger levels of bass would find Cloud 2 too thin but I don't understand even the biggest bassnigger finding that huge bass boost on the Alpha too weak.>>106584348That explains why so many people say the newer 2s sound like shit.>removed all the acoustic tuning material from inside the cupsThat's fucked
>>106584370Yeah, it's pure product assassination. Cut corners everywhere and sell it under the same name as if nothing ever happened, when in fact it's completely ruined.Maybe the QPad versions are still good, I don't know. They're too niche for anyone to talk about them.
>>106584370I am not a bass nigger but the bass in the m50x is too low for me. On the jbl 610 its perfect. So should i go with the alpha then?
>>106584422Which one is good then
>>106584527Yeah, the Alpha wireless has more bass.
>>106584025They need different amps, newfag.
>>106584778stax i'd get it but anything else.. newfag
personally, it’s Sennheiser
What's a lighter alternative to the FIIO FT1 Pro? Amazing sound but at 374g this thing is HEAVY!
>>106584952>marble top 600
>>106585004DCA Aeon, 330 grams. I don't know of any planar magnetic headphones that are lighter than 300 grams other than planar IEMs but that doesn't really count.
>>106583696>FiiO KA13That seems to do the job, ty anon
>>106585004Basically all planar headphones are going to be somewhat heavy, less than 400g is already on the lighter side of things.Audeze for example are generally 600g+
>>106585004get the capra strap
>>106584855A small price to pay for endgame.
>>106584611If you want to be safe, just get HE-R9
>>106584107 #You can hear the sound leaking as a form of crossfeed, which is why Stax calls them "earspeakers," it's a speaker experience. Picrel is the most open drivers money could buy.
what are some good closed back headphones with good passive sound isolation? Roommates are driving me crazy with noise
>>106585491when they do that i just fuck women desu and they usually shut up
>>106585491Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, DCA Aeon Closed, LCD-2 Closed. The closed LCDs in particular block sound really well because of the extreme seal. HD 280 were made with sound isolation as a main focus so these are also pretty competent at that.
>>106585100> closed back, $900Hardly an alternative but thanks for the suggestion. I never knew this brand existed.>>106585185>>106585302Being planar is secondary. I should have been more specific. My only hard requirements is being open back with some bass extension. I also own an HD650 and that thing is eaten alive when it comes to hitting the low notes.
>>106585588>aeon>closed back>900wat? The open back version is $430.>Being planar is secondary. I should have been more specific. My only hard requirements is being open back with some bass extensionIf you want an open back with a decent bass extension then the only real option are planars. I guess you could also just get a low distortion DD headphone and add more bass with EQ.
>>106577027>Any low distortion planar is the endgame of headphones once properly EQ'dMy HE400se is so heavily eq'd they turned into something completely different
LCD2c generally this congest sounding? i thought they were soundstage kings..
>>106583329>Enjoying them?Yeah they sound completely different and way better than my HD6XXs I replaced. Very comfortable, build quality is amazing. I really dont notice they are closed back, either.I was also worried about my ears getting hot but that is not the case, thankfully.
>>106586064>LCD2c generally this congest sounding?Yes, due to the recessed treble. Add a high shelf filter to get rid of that veil effect. Even Audeze seems to think their headphones are better EQ'd since they have an app that has built in presets for their headphones. Used to be free but now they want you to pay a subscription for what's basically EQ APO kek.>>106586031Exactly what I meant. If you have good planars you can make them sound like basically anything you want.
>>106586209modding lcd2cb to c was a wrong idea even though it sounds kind of impressive open but not for the long run....
>>106584348>>106584370>>106584422what about cloud iii?
>>106586488Treble deficient and less bass than either II or Alpha. If you thought M50x didn't have enough bass then these have even less.
>>106586523ouchwhere do you get these graphs from?

Any suggestions if I have roommates trying to win the who can make the most noise competition? I'm going to lose my mind if I can't find a headset that can shut them out.
