What drives people to buy IEMs/cables they can't even wear >>106503670
>>
>>106567003
Thanks man! I have lots of stuff to research now.

As for tunings, I like bassy/neutral stuff. I had been thinking about the Mega 5-EST.
>>
>>106572652
>>106567003
Oh, and the Alpha Omega RA ($699). You've probably listened to it or its big brother the Alpha Omega Omega ($2500)?
>>
>>106572652
Not a bad pick, M5E is quite decent for bassy/neutral, albeit slightly overpriced in today's market considering the many cheaper JM-1 clones. Though I'll admit the cheaper alternatives like the Crinear Meta/Daybreak and Nicehck Rockies are brighter leaning than the "og" JM-1 set.

>>106572671
I've heard the AOO but not the RA. Not really that impressed with its bigger brother. It's hard to find demos but if you do intend to blind buy it, I'd suggest you find a used set (so you don't incur too much of a loss from selling it thereafter).

The conundrum with this train of thought is that the people LITERALLY building your iems believes in driver quality. As you know Symphonium is currently designing their new flagship IEM and I got invited to hear various prototypes with different driver configs. Felix was complaining about how early protos had extremely shitty DDs which lose resolution at higher SPLs and that its a pain in the ass to source for better DDs. So even if you don't believe in techs, you're still buying into products designed/built by engineers that do.
>>
>>106572785
>The conundrum with this train of thought is that the people LITERALLY building your iems believes in driver quality.
And? Even the most qualitiest of the drivers you can imagine costs fucking nothing.
>Felix was complaining about how early protos had extremely shitty DDs which lose resolution at higher SPLs
what kind of SPLs are we talking about here?
It really doesn't matter tho it's not a "we need to make our pos cost $1k" kinda problem. Did he elaborate tho? What kind of "better DDs" did he need specifically? Type of construction? Type of diaphragm? Anything?
There's also a comfort problem. Hard to beat cheaper smaller IEMs on that front.

Unironically no one makes ergonomic after market cables anymore.
I said "anymore" but honestly I don't think anyone ever did.

what are the best gaming IEMS? mainly play Helldivers 2 and story driven games like Silent Hill and Subnautica. Only ever used Tanchjim Bunny's and Zero 2

Simple 8 core cables from literally any brand + earhooks removed, I can wear those for 20 hours. Not too thick, not too thin, no tangling. Some become stiff over time though.

VX Pro is easily better than Zero2 or Bunny for gaming, separation and quality bass. It costs $30 more than them, but you're getting 8 BAs and 1 DD.
>>
>>106572785
>The conundrum with this train of thought is that the people LITERALLY building your iems believes in driver quality.
That is part of the reason why most people are still fooled by driver memes. I can assure you that competent companies understand and play the marketing game, even if they know better.
>Felix was complaining about how early protos had extremely shitty DDs which lose resolution at higher SPLs
Complete garbage unless he starts using real quantifiable technical terms. The only time I've seen DD sensitivity/efficiency be a problem is with ANC TWS, not some run-of-the-mill passive IEMs.
>>
>>106573587
Let me tell ya some cold hard facts;
IEMs will NEVER be good for gamink
No matter how expensive, no matter how much somebody shills one, they will always be inferior to even the cheapest headphones
>>
>>106574333
This is true but planar and 8-12BA comes close and costs about the same nowadays
>>
LAN 2 :OO
>>
>>106574333
Headphones are so fucking bad for gaming you're better off playing without audio, especially "gaming" headphones. Atrocious tuning and channel matching.
>>
>>106574563
Good neutral headphones are still alright for gayming. Gayman headphones are the issue, coonsoomer stuff from steelseries, astro, corsair, kingston etc.
>>
>>106574596
I would not use 1DD iems for gayming for example, but a good and well tuned 4-10 driver pos ? Sign me in.
>>
>>106574596
Neither matters all that much for gaming
>>
>>106574596
If by neutral you mean something like hd600 then it sucks too, all 3d effects barely work on them.
>>
>>106574605
It depends on the game. EQ can only do so much
>>
>>106574605
Meant for >>106574563
>>
>>106574611
Mine are pretty good for gayman, but like I said, use a multi driver pos if you really want to play. 1DD pos sucks dick for gayman.
>>
>>106574616
Channel matching is super important for gaming.
>>
>>106574621
Mental illness.
>>
>>106574626
True. Most are made with dolby gay shit in mind, but that doesn’t rule out single driver cans with good tuning, sensitivity and impedance, but it def disqualifies 1DD pos
>>
>>106574631
I don’t care, I am right.
>>
>>106574634
You do not hear individual drivers. Most aren't even cross over and play simultaneously. And in case of KZ/CCA the drivers aren't even real lmao. Hence >>106574631
>>106574638
You are proving the headphone law.
>>
>>106574659
Then use your 1DD pos and be happy, like I said, I don’t care.
>>
>>106574626
1-3dB of channel imbalance is a nothingburger. Par for the course even on IEMs. If it's more then that's a defective product obviously
>>
>>106574604
>not use 1DD for gaming
why not?
>>106574659
>not even real
you don't know the real problem. the drivers worked, they were just wired horribly.
they haven't done this shit in years lying ass faggot.

Tanchjim Fission Black, it's pretty good. Channel matching is not as perfect as it was with the Origin, but still very good and below 0.4 dB.

What are some PMPs that have similar /comfy/ levels to the Zune HD? I don't really need EVERYTHING the Zune had, I'd be happy if it could play music and videos. I'd get a Zune instead but I hate the piece of garbage proprietary connector.

I never had an iPod and was handed down a Zune and then Zune HD by a family member so I have fond memories of it and the interface/form factor.

buy both a CRA and EM500LM and call it a day. it's fine having and enjoying both flavors. CRA is always fun so blind buy the shit out of it already because its so cheap and thumps n bumps, take it from a certified materials physics master. I taught dr. harman himself, schooled him, shrew as he was. saw him kill a man for asking his wife an impedance question.
