why do post-2002 zoomers think the late 2000s is the 2010s
>>106572663Tiktok/Instagram brainwashing. Now back to thechnology...
The real answer is that the period between 2007 and 2012 was radically different from the periods before 2007 and after 2012.Things from 2013 onwards just copy and build upon things from that era.
the 2010's was just "hey remember this stuff from the '00s" and kids who didn't see it in the '00s think it's new
>>106572797I think it's more like 2006 to 2011. Yeah, kinda nitpicking, but 2012 was the death of any semblance of 2000s culture.
>>106572813Only 2010 and 2011 really had that "late 2000s leftovers" feel. Most of the 2010s were full flat art minimalism slop.
I frequently see "nostalgia" for 2010 that includes 2016 memes. I also see people talking about "elder memes" or other nonsense, but instead of shit like long cat or xzibit its things like "its wednesday my dudes" or "big chungus"
>>106572663This girl I orbited in highschool thought this was the funniest fucking thing ever.I wish I could go back and meet her again bros
>>106572663because youtube may as well be the 2010sthe 2000s was flash
I grew up on reruns of 80s and 90s stuff, this is the same(just worse)
>>106573143This.Youtube has always been about virality and slop, they just got good at stamping out anything organic.
>>106573135You're ancient now Unc, stop fantasizing about high school. It's creepy fr.
>>106572988I’d call it 2005 to 2012 personally. The rise of YouTube and MySpace, Bebo, the early days of Tumblr, Facebook and the iPhone in 2007, the release of the Core 2 series enabling faster video editing, pirated copies of Sony Vegas, WMV, Drowning Pool, Three Days Grace, and 009 Sound System from the YT video library, Carameldansen, Numa Numa, Nyan Cat, the airing of the end of the dub YGO Season 5 and the start of YGO GX, Pokémon on the DS, Pictochat, the Mii network, CoD 4, the start of MLG and Faze clan stuff, Guitar Hero, 4chan being at the forefront of meme culture, Anonymous, Scientology, LulzSec, Omegle and ChatRoulette, MSN, AIM, Yahoo, Skype, the infamous Samsung text tone, Warcraft memes, Zelda CD, Sonic snoopingas, the rise of Dubstep and Skrillex, and so much more that I cannot be bothered to list or can’t remember.
You're all zoomers out here trying to stolen valor millennial hey day. This was all late 90s btw.
>>106572663I joined the internet in the summer of 1994 and I have zero recollection of that image.
I was born in 2001, am I safe?
>>106574725i didn't really think about why op said "post-2002" specifically until you posted that. now i will assume op was born in 2002, the little baby
>>106574508It's the Mandela effect.
>>106574508https://youtu.be/ZZ5LpwO-An4it's a meme from 2005, using a song from 1992, with visuals from an '80s cartoon
reminds me of downloading video clips from ebaums world and converting them to play on my psp to show my friends.not even close to the 2010's of course.
>>106574508>>106575013the song for anyone wondering:https://youtu.be/6NXnxTNIWkcand the cartoon is of course he-man and the masters of the universe
>>106574484there's no way the person who made the he-man meme wasn't gen-x. i'm a 1990 millennial and he-man was not something i was even aware of as a kid, that was before my time. so too was most early '90s music. the meme in op's picture being from 2005 was the right time to me to see it, but not for me or someone my age to have made it
