what should I know before getting a desktop?
Imagine not having a desktop until now. lol. lmao even. Clearly a lefty with addiction to AI slop from social media and BBC News trying to fit inside another community
>>106573796compared to using what?
>>106573854i already have a laptop and the fans are annoying
>>106573796if you arent buidling it yourself dont buy a pre-built. pay someone to build it for you so you can get a motherboard that can add better components to later.
make sure it comes with legs
>>106573796the name desktop is deceiving, they dont have to be on your desk they can also fit underneath
>>106573993how do you know if a motherboard is good or not

>>106574073latest cpu socket and ddr5 but don't worry too much about it just take a look at >>106574261and choose your price rangemaybe watch a crash course on pc building on youtube if you want to build it yourself. otherwise there are sites that allow you to select the parts and they'll build it for you for a fee
>>106573796Man I never even thought about the fact that zoomers mostly aren't gonna have a desktop as their first computer. Hell they probably don't even have a "family computer"
>>106574289oh and don't buy an hdd for storage. an ssd is much faster and reliable but an hdd is cheaper per storage space. unless you're a data hoarder you want an ssd
>>106574298our careers are saved
>>106573871>AMDfagBuy a cheap 7500f or 8400f build with a b580 and B650m, 32 GB RAM. Use a non self destroying M.2 SSD for boot and the largest HDD you can get your hands on. Buy a cheap chink case, if you dislike, buy artix fans to replace the chink ones. Don't cheap out on the PSU, buy a 650w thermallake or the like if you want a budget but avoid lesser PSUs.Buy a good 1080p monitor or a sufficient 2K monitor if you likeGenerally avoid Intel CPUs since i don't trust them not to burn themselves or be a good deal Compared to AMD
>>106574308You advocate cloud cuckery or the inability to use the computer, storage space is as important as RAM in the long term
>>106574040so it can walk away?
>>106574342What? He just said he prefers ssds as storage.
>>106574342if you apologize i won't be mad or make fun of you. sometimes i also reply faster than i read or think
>>106574346so you can threaten to break one of it when it "malfunctions". basic computer repair knowledge
>>106573830holy projection epstein
Just build a simple PC on newegg, using a case that fits your on your desk and looks nice. You will get infinitly more enjoyment out of a PC you build yourself and appreciate aesthetically.
>>106574308I'm a data hoarder and I use SSD.
>>106574535fair enough
>>106574353Which is the advocacy of storage cuckoldry in current year, When we can buy 20 TB SSDs for $200 then he may open his solid slut mouth>>106574363>sometimes i also reply faster than i read or thinkExplains why you're a solid slut dummy
>>106573796it tops on your desk
>>106575344oh so you're an actual data hoarder autist. i'm sorry for your disability but i specifically said that for people like you an hdd is appropiate but most people usually only store data that they actually useand no i don't care if some mid movie that i sorta liked ten years ago will be lost to time. we all die and so does our media. get over it
will threatening with suicide make them buy me the new gpu
>>106575377someone scratched your glasses
>>106575372 i don't care if data from ten years ago will be lost to time. we all die and so does our media. Consume slop and become a nihilist data cuckNo, get off the keyboard jewflix shill. Data hoardeds will inherit the internet
>>106573796It will be obsolete a year after you buy it.
>>106574298>>106573796girls consider it a red flag / ick if you have a desktop
>>106573796The current based combination to go for is Ryzen + NVIDIA.
For most use cases, a 4 core ~3ghz CPU (I recommend coolers that are 150%of TDP), 32 GB of dual channel RAM, and 1 TB (total) storage(more if video editing), and a fairly powerful graphics card (if playing the latest, or demanding games) is all you really needIf you want to cheap on a boot drive *nix/BSD should fit comfortably in 32GB, 64 if feeling fancy (do not use flash drives/sd cards/similar as they are slow and ripping it out will probably crash your computer)Having an HDD boot drive is shooting yourself in the foot for boot times, largely for no reasonIf you are just using this as what amounts to an office/internet PC, you can skimp ALOT on the above specs, but I wouldn't go below 2C/4T 3ghz, 8gb RAMFor modern AAAAAA gaming probably double the topThe order of buying should look something likeCase>motherboard AND CPU(check the sockets for both>RAM(same DDR, ideally motherboard "approved" timings)>everything elseI would also recommend against liquid cooling if your CPU is not a space heater, as the heatsink can still allow your computer to limp if the fan dies>>>/g/pcbg/
