You can see if your mic is working in the windows sound settings. It has a visual noise meter next to each mic and speaker. If your mic is being detected by windows it means the game is bugged.

Is my 5070 Ti undervolt too aggressive?
+2800 on memory as well
>>
>>106575756
I have a Shure MV5 on a small Gorillapod as a stand since I use it with different machines. At work I use an Elgato Wave Neo because it looks nice and comes with a stand that puts the mic at almost the right height. Both are ~1" condensers and sound about the same. I wouldn't recommend a condenser in a loud environment unless you have some sort of noise canceling or PTT.
Dynamics will work better in a louder environment. But they also need to be practically inside your mouth to work well. The Elgato I can keep just outside the frame of video calls and still sound great without looking like I'm larping as a podcaster. But if you're gaming with an open mic dynamic is probably the better option.

my new 18" 2560x1600 monitor has a DPI of 168 and everything looks sharp to the point of being uncanny
I'm honestly starting to believe that a DPI of around 130-140, which is what you get with say 32" 4k, might be the sweet spot with more not necessarily being that desirable
>>
>>106575822
Run some stress tests to see if it's stable. You can also save the profile for later and run the OC Scanner thing then undervolt from there. But I'm not an afterburner expert.

Those Samsung gddr7 chips have a lot of juice in them and 34gbps is trivial for it to run
>>
>>106576039
Higher vsoc needed for the same clock, mainly and also clockspeed ceiling but absolute speed doesn't matter since there's the 1:1 sweet spot of 6200-6600 that's easy for 2R to hit
Also its possible you'll be able to do 6400 at 1.27v on 1R but be unable to do so on 2R as it requires more than 1.30v vsoc and need to downclock to 6200mhz to cope

But what if I plan on staying at 6000MT and try to keep 1:1 without overvoling? Is that even possible?
>>
>>106576344
You'll probably need to go over the 1.05v default vsoc for 6000 2R
My current 9800x3d has a recently strong IMC/IF and needs about 1.1v for 6000cl26 2R
My previous 7800x3d needed about 1.2v for the same setting and generally needed 0.1v more vsoc for the same clocks as the 9800x3d even at 6200mhz
>>
>>106576313

Sure you can just view further away but
Pc screens are just lagging like ass

what's a good way to get back in the loop for pc parts? i am extremely out of the loop since I haven't looked in a decade. what is the 2500k+1080 ti if built today?

i think AMD is the way to go right? My focus is 90% work station (VM, compiling code, video processing, etc.), 10% gaming (lowest setting, just want high fps). My PC has lasted me 15+ years. I aim to do the same for my next build.

105 is fine for home desktop monitor without OS scaling, perfect for games and media. Fuck necklets and eyelets, I play paradox spreadsheet simulators on 42" all day every day.

I'm doing a build with that case. I wouldn't recommend it if you're gona access the I/O ports regularly especially with cables.

Its easy to pop the lid and access the ports but you're basically looking at a 30-60 second long process requiring both hands while standing over the case to thread a cable through the holes in the back and plugging it in and then put the lid back on. Its something I'd be willing to tolerate doing a one or twice a year at most. If its a something you need to do multiple times in a week I'd get another case.

1080p is great if you can handle it without upscaling AND the game provides a proper anti-aliasing solution instead of only DLAA (already bordering on AI slop), FXAA and TAA.
As it turns out, 1440p with DLSS ends up running and looking better than native 1080p with TAA. Hell, in some cases a bit of modest DLSS4 (Quality) ends up looking better than native 1440p with TAA even.

Does 1080p/1440p fundamentally become no different from 4k given enough distance? Like isn't it mostly about not seeing the pixels? I have a 27 inch 1080p and my friend says it looks burry as shit but I sit 6 feet away from it and I can't see anything blurry. I don't see any pixels it looks perfectly clear to me, none of the text stuff or other things people complain about. If I am going to be far away from my screen do I really need to spend more on 4k?

I don't know what to believe because I've never experienced anything other than these small screens. But I'm getting older and my eyesight is starting to decline. I was considering stepping up to a tv sized screen like a 42 inch or maybe even 55 inch screen. But tv's all seem to be 4k only, and I see people complaining all the time that everything on 4k is super tiny like the pictures for files and stuff like that. But if it's on a massive screen wouldn't that make up for that? And if I had a big 4k tv, if I'm playing games that can't handle 4k could I lower the resolution and it not look like shit or do I have to find a way to always be in 4k?

Sorry for a retard question in advance:
I am running Ryzen 7900X with 5070 Ti.
In idle both CPU and GPU are around 50 degrees

but when I am running some low load game (less then 10% GPU load) temperature of GPU is around 69-75 degrees, while CPU is around 60+

Is it normal or did I fuck up something during assembly?

it's called scaling, use it (if you want)
people are living in 1995 with the native / non scaling shit

>>106577857
tvs have better scaling than monitors usually
Just buy a LG G5 55" / S95F 55" if you aren't poor (on sale, on black friday obviously)
second option S90D 55" (if USA, since it's QDoled) 65" if EU
third tier C4/C5 for 42" Tier, or samsung s90d 42" for better motion interpolation and a game mode that does not lose brightness/color (last time I checked)
worst tier B4

LG TVs have better motion for non pc use and so on, but have dithering causing diagonal scan lines on everything
Samsung have worse QC, matte coating, a one connect box on the upmost tier

pick your poison, also if going for less than a 55" on LG or Samsung you will get worse dimmer panels

for tvmaxxing 55"+ is ideal for the benefits of brightness and so on

and always buy on a sale, for samsung you can consider buying open boxes because if the coating on the panel is scratched and you can get a giant price cut you can wet paper towel tactic it and peel off the entire coating and get a pristine tv again

No clue about actual sound levels in DB, but the thermals of the card itself have been great. Highest I've seen it go is around 80C and that was an edge case, usually it tops out at around 75-77C. During idle it's around 40-50C and during light usage around 45-55C depending on if the fan spins up or not.
It's the dual fan SFF-ready version of the card too.

Either way, weren't you looking at the 5070Ti? That's the best of both worlds option (16GB VRAM + high performance) if you can afford it. I couldn't so I settled, and the 5070 is serving me really nicely in both gayming and AI sloppa generation.

main difference is L3 cache and the IHS for the 8400F being affixed with caked-on thermal paste rather than soder. overal the 8400F will preform like a higher end zen 3 part while the 7500F will perform like a proper zen 4 cpu.

Architecturally they're completely different. The 8400F is monolithic and the 7500F is a chiplet design. Though in practice you might not notice much difference with the kinds of GPU you'd pair these with (7600XT, 5060, B580, etc).

It's good that you aren't cheaping out on the PSU since that's the easiest part to do so. But compare that to the cost and noise of the CPU cooler fans at load (it's about 38dB). You could probably be better served by going with a quieter cooler there, then dropping to the platinum version of that PSU. Or just upgrade the cooler to something quieter and keep the expensive PSU as well.

I don't really know how that works out other than just don't buy amd. I think (in fact I just about know) 16gb is more valuable than the extra performance from the 5070 on this front
>1440p gayming
Both of those cards are fine for that. 5070 you'd usually use quality and sometimes balanced or dlaa, 5060ti balanced or performance (which still almost always holds up)

Depends what you're comparing them to. A cheap soundbar should beat onboard monitor/TV speakers no problem but they struggle against even basic standmount speakers. The main reason to buy one is packaging i.e. speakers won't fit your setup.
>>
>>106581603
>what you're comparing them to
Nothing, I haven't had desktop speakers in a decade. I just want a more casual alternative to putting headphones on. I wouldn't have space for speakers anyways, my desk is tiny, while the soundbar can rest on my monitor's stand's foot.
>>
>>106581620
Go for it then. I can't speak to specific models but there's plenty of reviewers that cover them (including RTings). Your uses aren't particularly demanding so there's no need to get in to the weeds w.r.t. audio quality. Packaging and fitment are probably more important.

Looks pretty good. You might consider the 12-core 7900 over the 8-core 9700X for the extra 10€. Once you enable PBO it becomes a 7900X and is equal to the 9700X in games but the extra 4 cores more than makes up for the lower IPC for applications that use lots of threads like video editing. Which CPU should I choose between 9700X and 265k, since their prices are basically the same in my country now? I'll be using my new PC for office work, heavy web browser usage and web applications, gaming at 2K and/or FullHD (mainly for old fps titles), maybe AI vid and image gen, maybe video editing, maybe streaming. if they're smart and double down on the current b50 success, they can un-kill. It's a weird time for them. They need to release a sku (call it the b70) that, instead of focusing on being more powerful, just has as much vram as they can cram into it. That's the primary limiting factor for running local llms, and it's something nvidia currently has a monopoly on, so they can charge exorbitant amounts for it.
If they make a moderately powerful workstation card with 64gb of vram, that would immediately steal a big chunk of market share, and help pull them out of the current slump.

The problems with BFI are that it only has focus on part of the screen and the other parts become more blurry.
2) double image / image blurriness when you drop below the targeted frame rate.
3) Gave me fatigue after using it for extended sessions.

It needs a very optimized game that doesn't drop frames when there's a lot of action going on. Even cs 2 will drop down to 100 fps (?) in that pro players clp.

I guess you have more and better choices with Intel motherboards.

AM5 motherboards are either overpriced and/or shite.
I do not want a B850 motherboard because it usually includes Wifi7 cards, and those do not support Windows 10.

Decent B650 boards? Too bad the ASRock B650 Steel Legend is the only option with PCIe 5.0 support, but I won't risk frying the CPU.
Only 2 options left means only PCIe 4.0 which is the MSI Tomahawk both in ATX and microATX variant, nothing left.

I don't get white/black clipping on HDR
So I have this 271QPX QD-OLED monitor. For a while I've been using it on True Black 400 because otherwise there's just some aggressive ABL there that makes it not worth using. But to be fair, 400 doesn't seem to be all that worth it either. I don't know if it's the monitor going dim or me getting used to it.
I noticed a "fix" people suggest for aggressive ABL is to set brightness/gamma higher on whichever panel (or the MSI Display Kit). Problem being white clipping. However I noticed that clipping is still worse on True Black 400 for some reason. I could swear that it was giving me better results.

Is there any better test out there?

Nah. All shrink wrapped

>code for dlsite
It was labelled PCDVD. And if that were the case, what is the point in buying an empty box over completing an online transaction.

I don't find hdr on these monitors that impressive
I'm like, this is it?
only thing I can advise is to buy a qdoled tv

how many different modes does the hdr have on that monitor?
for samsung g80sd for example I can set static tone mapping or active tone mapping, active ton mapping raises brightness alot but blows out light areas
can also set peak brightness normal/medium/high so the 400/1000 modes for peak brightness essentially

idk I'm still a noob with this shit

it's all shit regardless, TVs seem to be the only option

What do you think? I want it to survive one ot two CPU/GPU upgrades so thats why I went with that PSU and MOBO.

Just two and next to no settings: Peak 1000 nits and True Black 400. 400 sets it to around a limit of 450 nits with no noticeable ABL, but of course there's nothing impressive about it. It is better than SDR, I still find it so, but it's not amazing.
Peak 1000 nits is very aggressive. ABL will make any fullscreen game that isn't quite dark just outright worse. The mode only shines on horror games and games that generally just give you highlights.
My main issue is, I do have a laptop with an OLED display, and it has something in between, no noticeable ABL, much better highlights, and fullscreen brightness is fine. So I have a monitor on a laptop that at least looks better to me on HDR. I'm playing an HDR video on that thing and it's like night and day, it's bothering me a little.
I've been trying to find some way to force something in between both modes available in my monitor, but I don't even think that would work properly. Like I'd give a bit of ABL up for an increase to something closer to 600 nits for instance. I want a middle ground and I don't know what the fuck to do here.

Can it read PC Rom games?

Even if it could, who plays VNs with a control pad?

yeah thats like most speakers, the only speakers that need dedicated power cables that aren't high-end are subwoofers, it just uses a usb cable to power and transmit audio.

At some point they did update it that way.
However I think they might have fucked it up with a firmware update too
>1. Adjust the brightness of each mode which for the Erp Certification.
Of course their latest update made pixel refresh less annoying.
