>I store all my media on discs, it lasts way longer than a hard dri-
no one has ever said this thoughi think you made a thread because you want people to tell you more reliable data preservation strategies but since youre being a little faggot about it you can have nothing instead
>I don't trust any form of storage, I keep everything in the one place I know it'll be safe.

>>106578559I just put a bluray in a water tank to see how long it would take to rot
>>106578559You didn't store your media on a silver disc.
>>106578586butthurt rottie>>106578604back2reddit>>106578652I stored it all on a NAS actually

What is the best digital storage medium on a decades timescale
>>106578559i have 20+ year disc and none of them look like thatif your discs look like that you were not taking care of them
>>106578586I ll tell you anon cause that guy doesn't want me toThe secret is tape
>>106579281Correct. I have music CD's released in the 80's and Amiga/PC CD's from the early 90's and they're all readable. I only started burning my shit on CD's like in 1997, and again, all readable save for a handful I had to throw away (peeled off just taking them out of the case). Can't remember the exact brand but pretty sure they don't exist anymore. Must have been chinkslop.
>>106578559>I store all my media on discs, it lasts way longer than a hard dri-they have discs made for archival purposes that are designed to last hundreds of years. Blu rays last longer. CDs/DVDs are shit.
my oldest data is on discs
>>106579281back them up to hdd or you will regret it.nothing is eternal, preserving data is a life-long battle against entropy, anything made of matter will decay so act accordingly.I still think of a few things I lost nearly 2 decades ago because I was too young and stupid to back up anything, do it now before it's too late.
>>106578559bro this glitchy shit is fire
>>106578559Any form of physical media will last if stored properly. The problem is people don't store them properly and there can be manufacturing defects during the curing process.
>>106579404Gross bug. Stop gookposting.
>>106579407Store data as engraving in quartz and it will last millennia
>>106578559I have lots of CD ROMs and RW from 1997. All fine today.Don’t store them outside scattered around on the dirt.
>>106579396> buy my new thing! No thanks.
